The Wellness industry has the same greed as the biomedical industry but nothing it sells you actually works

grabarr.bsky.social reposted

Aside from the embrace of Wellness Eugenics I think RFK jr's moves all make sense if you are trying to destroy actual medical industries and replace them with wellness snake oil. We can all agree on the greed of the former but at least they create actual usable products

this is very funny as well as good evidence — you know, beyond what we can see with our own eyes — that there is not some epidemic of anti-white discrimination

Trump is directing the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to prioritize cases of discrimination against white men, but commission staff are "struggling to find complaints with merit"

Now, you might say, "What about all the knowledge we'd lose if we push all the abusive geniuses out of academia?!" But I'd counter and say, "Well, what about the knowledge we've already lost from the budding scholars whose careers they've derailed with their abuse?"

Trump’s war is sending oil prices soaring and Big Oil is cashing in. Families pay more at the pump. CEOs profit. That’s not energy policy. That’s profiteering. Instead, I’m advocating for a tax on big oil windfall profits, and for oil execs to cut their pay.

Don’t let this fly under the radar: the Trump administration wants to kick ~6 million more people off of food assistance programs, including nearly 2 million children. That would save just $1 billion a year, while Trump spends upwards of $1 billion per *day* on his new forever war. Priorities.

This has been the GOP's "starve-the-beast" scheme for nearly 50 years. Meanwhile, millions suffer and struggle to get ahead as the rich get richer. See the problem here?

The mask is completely off. You can’t meet these people in the middle. We’re not working toward the same goals. They hate America. They hate democracy. They hate freedom. And they hate you.

Remember that Biden literally handed Sen Langford the pen to write the border security policy, which he did, and then voted against his very own bill because Trump told him to so he had that issue to hammer Biden with…

The richest Americans saw their net worth soar 120% from 2017 to 2025. The top 1% now control $55.8 trillion in assets — more than the G.D.P. of the United States and China combined. Meanwhile, millions of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. Still wondering if inequality is out of control?

I mean...weren't we told for months and months that a position that Kamala Harris took on trans rights due to something The Groups allegedly forced on Dems practically doomed her singlehandedly?

Greg Sargent@gregsargent.bsky.social

Huh. Glad to see NYT finally admitting to this.

Brian Beutler is too cavalier here, and misses how dominant the US has been in science, how much of the enterprise is now threatened. Knowledge creation is a fragile ecosystem. Science that shuts down in the US doesn't just magically reappear in other places. Some practical knowledge will be lost.

ICE detention deaths are now occurring at a rate of roughly one every four days. Three weeks ago that rate was one every six days. The pace is accelerating, and Congress has not launched a single investigation.

My team and I have been anticipating this for months. It is unconstitutional and illegal. The media should note: Last time he issued an EO about voting, we sued and won. If Trump issues such an order we will sue again and we will win again.

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

Exclusive: Pro-Trump activists are circulating a draft executive order alleging Chinese interference in the 2020 election, proposing a national emergency to expand presidential power over voting, like banning mail ballots and voting machines.

Ofelia Torres, the teenage Chicago Public Schools student whose fight against cancer while her father was detained by ICE came to represent the federal government's overreach during Operation Midway Blitz, has died. Brave young woman. I will never forget her. RIP.

This is somewhat more of an old-fashioned ICE ruse. Arguably this is a sign of the agency going back to more standard “targeted enforcement” tactics designed to be not as disruptive as the more recent aggro-style arrests. Watch for more like this to come.

Tina-Desiree Berg@tinadesireeberg.com

CCTV footage appears to show DHS agents posing as people having car trouble in order to lure a target out of his house before arresting them. The target comes out and starts helping them before 3 vehicles surround the scene. The car "experiencing" trouble then drives off with them.
