I actually have important contributions to the Cheesecake Factory discourse. My first job in Washington was actually as a Cheesecake Factory server and bartender. One day in 2009 or 2010 I wandered in for my shift a bit early...

Republicans control every branch of government and what did they give you? Higher gas prices. Higher cost of living. Higher healthcare costs. Higher inflation.

Texas was built by hope. By people who had no business believing — but believed anyway. To every Texan who’s ever wondered if anyone in power is paying attention: We are taking our state back. Because a little bit of hope is a dangerous thing.

This is Tommy. Tommy had a question about my allegiances. Listen to the end to hear about his.

yeah, it's a media rule of thumb that GOP gains have deep ideological significance whereas Dem gains simply don't require interpretation of any kind, they're understood as fleeting and something of a fluke that will untimately give way to the natural order of things sooner or later

David Waldman@kagrox.bsky.social

For me, just a reminder that Loudoun County—introduced to a national audience as an epicenter of Gop backlash against trans students and supposed repression of parent voices—never went Republican, and Glenn Youngkin lost the precincts where the schools at the center of the controversy were located.

I spent one night in the bunkhouse, got up in the morning and thought "No, I've seen enough bunkhouses", herded sheep for half a day so the herder could go to the dentist and got back in my pickup.

These paleolithic bison are 15,000 years old, but look as fresh, vibrant & as realistic as if they were modelled yesterday. They were crafted in clay in a cave in Tuc d’Audoubert 🇫🇷 with some form of spatula (probably wooden) and hands and fingers. Remarkable things.

I wrote long ago that Trump created his own reality with his repeated lies. He may start out knowing he is lying, but the lies blur after he repeats them. His lies are like mixing different paint colors. Truth becomes a grey goo. Nobody else can know what's true. Only what he says is true.

1. I think the president of the United States really believes "there's never been anybody" who deserves the Nobel Peace Prize more than he does. He really believes he "settled eight wars." He really believes he stopped "the total obliteration of the world" by going to war with Iran.

How can Latino, Cuban-American Marco Rubio be so into this fascist racial purity stuff, even to the point of lecturing Europeans that their main security threat isn’t Russia, it’s the population becoming less white? Apparently because he’s not a son of Cubans, he’s a great grandson of Spaniards.

Greg Sargent@gregsargent.bsky.social

Funny how Marco Rubio tries to differentiate himself from all the other children of recent immigrants who are now getting removed from the country by the master he now serves. Rubio, you see, is a descendent of *the West*
