If you're a D or D-adjacent voter in NC and haven't voted yet, you have the chance to help deliver truly historic curb-stomping to the R supermajorities in the NCGA Please go vote 😄

My secret hope is that the Election Day turnout skew, typically heavy R, just fails to materialize D+7 or better 🤞🤞🤞 bsky.app/profile/sout...

Southey Blanton@southey4senate.bsky.social

I'm heading to Randleman today to drop off a yard sign and knock some Dem doors to get them turned out. The Randleman precinct is running at a D+9 compared to the registered voter information. If I lose better or get a toss up precinct in Randolph then who knows what we can do.

Dems continue to have monster turnout. Four days ago, they were up +9% over past EV periods (below); they're now +10% bsky.app/profile/greg...

T. Greg Doucette@gregdoucette.bsky.social

I've been regularly checking @peark.es's website with NC early voting details, waiting for the turnout to start tapering off -- but it seems to still be going up 🤯 Dems are now ~9% above their 2018 (Trump I) midterm turnout high. Rs are only ~even versus 2022 (Biden) midterm high ncearly.peark.es

Politico wrote up Zohran playing basketball with the uncovering-a-big-scandal tone the same day the NYTimes wrote up "credible allegation that The President of the United States raped a woman" as a political strategy story. Broken media in a nutshell

The powerful executives who cozied up to Trump didn't oops accidentally forget about pendulum swings. They either: 1) Like the fascism 2) Calculated it was here to stay, so going along was savvy 3) Saw no real downside, no consequences when the pendulum swung Crucial to show them 3 was a mistake

Schooley@schooley.bsky.social

That this is in THE WASHINGTON POST is almost too much irony to bear.

Not that long ago, three major lower-court rulings against the executive branch on three unrelated topics would’ve been a busy *month,* and outlets would’ve rushed to write up such a run of adverse rulings. Now, it doesn’t feel unusual when we get three on the same *day.* It’s all … exhausting.

Yep. Internet gambling in particular, which kind of necessarily partakes of interstate commerce! (I assume the reason why that law was so oddly written was to grandfather in Vegas and Atlantic City)

the story of how sports betting became legal is odd. instead of directly banning sports betting, Congress passed a law requiring states to ban sports betting, which the Supreme Court held (doctrinally correctly) is unconstitutional. but Congress clearly had the power to directly ban sports betting

jamelle@jamellebouie.net

i don't think anyone should run explicitly on banning online gambling but i do think that a democratic-led government should just quietly take steps to undermine the industry and create an inhospitable regulatory environment

anyone ever notice how republicans don't run on half the evil shit that they do? ever notice how that works?

i am inviting anyone from a legacy media organization to explain to me why the house judiciary dems report on trump’s epstein’s ties and multiple allegations of rape isn’t worthy of extensively reporting on. i’m serious. i want to understand.

You don't need to turn the audio on I just wanted to share what Jesse Ventura looks like now.

Jesse Ventura to Piker: "Here's what pisses me off -- I did 2 tours, 17 months. So did my brother. Southeast Asia. That was at the same time Donald Trump was running and hiding like the coward he is. Why didn't he join us in the Vietnam War? I've heard him talk. He said he should be a general!"

I will also note that there used to be a LOT of money being directed at purely civilian drone use cases and companies until a couple years ago. Trump 2.0 has had a hugely destructive impact here, especially in the U.S.

Drones and other robots do have a huge number of civilian and society-benefiting uses. We need ways for talented people to be able to work on those applications, without having to compromise their morals to build weapons for ICE (and similar malignant buyers).

T. Greg Doucette reposted

It genuinely does suck and is *bad* that it feels like there’s almost nowhere to go for people who 1. Want to work on robotics (like drones) and 2. Don’t want to build weapons.

Infrastructure is good, actually

The political media is visibly chafing at the current situation, where Republicans are glaringly awful, fucking everything up, running deviant candidates everyone hates, and Dems are just being normal & winning. The force is out of balance. They are viscerally eager to go after Dems about something.
