I’m so happy to finally publish this work! It’s been too-long in coming, but I think the result is a solid set of questions and directions for the OScH community to use as guidance for moving the field forward.

I’m in the planning stages right now for a production of Alice by Heart, which I’m directing next year. He wrote the score for it, along with Spring Awakening and American Psycho. His newest work is opening off Broadway this fall (Memoirs of an Amorous Gentleman).

And when I say we are in a quiet constitutional crisis, this is what I mean: Congress directs National Science Foundation to send funds for research ins social, behaviorism and economic sciences; the Agency refuses to release at all, and then recommends eliminating the division.

Dan Garisto@dangaristo.bsky.social

Finally, this has gone a bit under the radar, so I want to highlight it: The social, behavioral and economic sciences directorate (SBE) has simply ceased to deliver grants to many of its subareas. Any topic not specifically OK'd by the Trump administration is receiving zero new awards.

The @kirkhamilton.com podcast "Strong Songs" has a really good episode that breaks down "Total Eclipse of the Heart" in terms of its composition, production, musical structure... and the fun fact that it was originally intended for a musical about *vampires*. strongsongspodcast.com/blogs/episod...

Call your reps -- blue, red, purple, it doesn't matter -- about the proposed OMB science funding rule. The house can stop this. Let them know it matters for your district.

I care because I’m a nostalgic fool who connected with these characters, & remain frustrated that they’re untended when there is still plenty of reason to do so. Was THE MUPPET SHOW perfect? No. Nothing is. But when it hit that sweet spot, it operated on a full spectrum of emotion.

I’m hiring! Come work with me!

What was supposed to be a simple BNA-JFK-BER trip has become an insane BNA-SLC-AMS-BER journey. Added 12 hours to the trip, but at least I’m getting there.

I am so thrilled to be bringing someone new to the OSHF team. Very excited to hire a Program Manager, and if you think it should be you, take a look and apply!

This is *so* important and it's been a persistent issue since the early days of learning technology adoption. Short term contracts and project funding have a significant impact on the longevity and sustainability of digital resources. It's a huge waste of both funding and invaluable expertise.

Dr Alex Fitzpatrick@animalarchaeology.com

Not to mention how many digital projects are being initially created and maintained by folks on short term contracts. I literally just posed this question yesterday at work - who will take on the digital platform I’m building when my contract is up next March?

It’s not every day that the largest technology company in the world changes CEOs. Even though this had been strongly rumored for awhile, Tim Cook stepping down in September and John Ternus taking over as Apple CEO is quite a big deal for the future of the company. www.apple.com/newsroom/2026/…
