I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

"amplify your people" is 100% the best strategy

Rafa Sales Ross@rafiews.com

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

"You need to hide any interest in 'dark' things or adults will think you're dangerous and act accordingly" is an INCREDIBLY damaging thing to teach a kid.

Voted this morning, Wed two weeks before the election and I still had to wait in line. Got to the table, gave the same little speech I have made every election for over a decade: "Please understand that I admire and respect poll workers, you are heroes of democracy."

I would like it noted that I did NOT turn around and say, "I love my country enough to protest when we fall short of what we stand for." I did NOT look at her and say, "Y'know, I wish sometimes that someone loved me as much as a cracker loves a poll tax."

I just ignored her, took my ballot, and proceeded to vote for a slate of candidates who are all gonna lose, every one of them.

"Still, by requiring me to show ID, you are enforcing an unconstitutional and unjust law, and I do so under protest." Usually the poll worker just nods. This time, the woman behind me had to butt in and announce loudly, "Well, I love showing my ID, I think it's the least we can do for our country."

Exactly 10 years ago today: Hillary Clinton said Vladimir Putin would rather have "a puppet as president of the United States.” She absolutely nailed it. 🔨

When Grammy-winning musician Rhiannon Giddens begins playing “Old Corn Liquor,” a traditional Black American folk tune, acclaimed Chinese pipa virtuoso Wu Man recognizes similarities to Chinese pentatonic music and spontaneously joins in. The joy on their faces says it all.

Hey seniors supporting this guy and republicans will cost you your social security

The average retiree will soon see average cuts of over $2,000 to their annual Social Security benefits if the Trump administration’s mass deportation campaign is continued, according to a new report on the widespread economic consequences of the president’s inhumane agenda.

and I stand with the hectoring, pedantic weirdos. they are the thin blue line that's keeping this place unprofitable and therefore okay to look at during work hours

Made duro wat for dinner last night. Three heaping tablespoons of berbere. Soooo delicious, but I've been paying for it all day today. Do Not Care. Having it for dinner all week.

Highly recommended, do visit. I fell into the associated exhibit store, which features an astonishing array of tat. The sad thing is, I kinda desperately want it ALL.

It's really discouraging to read fic depicting libraries as quiet museums with a few quirky patrons, & librarians as introverted angels living in the 1900s. Libraries can't survive these stereotypes. You think you're writing a love letter, but you're causing active harm. Please stop.

My car was giving me weird alarms today. Only place open on Sunday is Wal-Mart Automotive. They checked everything, reinflated tires, informed me that the dealer installed tires BACKWARDS (hence alarms and deflation) and charged me nothing. Subaru dealership, that's gonna be tough to beat.

House GOP leaders cancel votes on Thursday - sending lawmakers home later today until after the elections. That means the House can avoid a vote on the Hegseth impeachment plan from Rep. Thomas Massie R-KY.

When things that are objective facts start being labeled as “controversial” it creates just enough of a crack for the gaslighting to get in. Defend the truth.

OMG. One of the "Three Annies" (Dillard, Lamott, and Fadiman) whose writing I revere -- among the few authors who make me think not "did I like reading this?" but "how did I deserve to read this?" Annie Dillard did not write much, but every word she wrote was perfection.
