Thankfully, it seems our donations to progressive candidates go further: “Mamdani had consultants, too. But…once he reached the public-financing cap…he told donors to stop giving and volunteer—the one thing a candidate can do that pays a consultant nothing”

it's not the only problem in the world but it seems very clear to me that better ADHD support leads to better real-world outcomes, and that the delta between outcomes for the well-supported and unsupported is frequently enormous

Ina Hallström@killedbyproxy.bsky.social

Systematic review relevant to the discourse on diagnoses and meds. "ADHD was associated with increased all-cause mortality, suicide mortality, unintentional or intentional injury mortality, and natural-cause mortality, whereas ADHD medication use was associated with reduced all-cause mortality."

holy smokes, conan strikes up a chat with a random lady on the subway and she immediately starts riffing on his level, no problem.

"dont worry, we didn't use LLMs for real art, like writing, or graphics, or sound, we only used it for dumb gross useless basic shit like programming" always the funnest thing to read as a programmer, as someone whose whole career is based on code, whose handwritten library changed the industry etc

I was curious how these results were achieved and looked up the repo github.com/obsidianmd/p... - First commit 12 days ago - gitignore contains Claude dir and AGENTS md - no technical doc about perf strategies Is it really open source if the prompts that generated a software pkcg are kept secret?

This is Pele, my new rendering library for diagrams and charts, compatible with the latest Mermaid syntax. - 100-500× faster than mermaid.js - 6× smaller bundle - No dependencies - Easy to theme - Responsive to device width - Open source (MIT) Try it at pele.run

To be clear: I’m not trying to shame the use of LLM assistance. I really am curious about this project’s software design guidelines. The docs discuss the usage of the software, but not its internals. The LLM harness md files would have provided transparency to that, but that is proprietary.

It's World Homeless Day, and I'll just say: Homelessness isn't some great unsolvable mystery. People are homeless because they don't have homes. This suffering persists not for lack of solutions, but because enormous wealth and power are invested in maintaining the very structures that produce it.

The story of American politics is the story of a C student who cannot help but start big projects the night before they are due. We've seen this coming for decades, but in response, we just made cars bigger and more deadly.

I really hate the large markdown files that AI slops out. They're long, verbose, & still need to be reviewed for accuracy (which I bet you gets skimped on). I've been seeing them for documentation & planning, the kind of thing you want clarity on, but instead get slammed with information overload.

A well written doc or plan shows human effort. That they did the research and wrote & rewrote their doc until it was understandable & enjoyable to read. AI generated technical writing is not only incoherent, but just a fucking pain to read.

Overall, media has always been a small share of the economy—the effect of AI art will be primarily cultural & social rather than economic Still, current arts displacement is a microcosm of disruption already happening in larger sectors like tech, and maybe coming to more sectors soon
