I think ultimately we ended up in the right place moving on from Eddie but these stats used to drive me up a wall when talking about whether he was good enough for Arsenal. A ten minute appearance down a goal with the opposing team playing 10 men behind the ball shouldn't be given much weight.

Scott Willis@scott.cannonstats.com

I’ve now heard stats talking about the G/A numbers over different period for Arsenal players on Arsecast and AVP and I can’t help but get annoyed by the use of games as the measure. It is also selective end dates to paint each in their worst light but that doesn't bug me as much. cont... 1/3

Two of our three best actions today which should have led to goals were generated by Noni and Arsenal fans are running to the TL to say Noni played poorly. Watch the games, guys.

Something that’s so striking in these emails is how…unimpressive Epstein is. He comes off as a pompous, sub-literate lech. Yes everyone is so mortifyingly solicitous of him! All fawning and flattery! Why?????

Eems reposted

Media standards: 1) No Democratic scandal on par with Trump-Epstein, so it’d be biased and unfair to five it much attention. 2) Trump wouldn’t be shamed into resigning and his cult of personality wouldn’t abandon him, so Trump-Epstein wasn’t worth pursuing. Way too many think that’s journalism.

Trump is upfront in saying he will use the shutdown to punish Democrats, and here are the receipts. About $27.2 billion cut from Dem districts compared to about $0.7 billion in GOP districts. We all complain about the media, but need this type of in-depth journalism. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Holy hell. DHS just openly stated that its agents use “reasonable suspicion” to make ARRESTS. This is blatantly unconstitutional. The Supreme Court is clear that you need probable cause to arrest someone, as opposed to stop them to ask them a question or two. This is huge b/c…

It’s also worth noting that as soon as it became clear the Trump shooter had no real legible politics and certainly not from “the left” he completely vanished into anonymity. No one knows his name.

Is it just me or does this share a lot of commonalities with the attempted Trump assassination last summer? Maybe worth exploring those

Gun violence is out of control. The victims of gun violence are Republicans, Democrats, independents, and kids, who have no political affiliation whatsoever. We need to tone down the incendiary political rhetoric, for sure, but we also need to do something about guns. The guns!

People are falling into the trap of trying to categorize today's event as "political violence" or "culture war issues" or "intolerance of speech." Other countries suffer from those three issues all of the time without these disastrous results. The problem here is guns. Don't fall into the trap.

This is a great time to focus on how easily it is for people to get their hands on guns in this country. Whether it's churches, schools, movie theaters, concerts, speeches, parks, etc. The common denominator is guns. Any ink spilled talking about anything else is missing the point.

Agreed.

Liverpool 1 (0.3)-(0.4) 0 Arsenal It feels like this is going to have narrative overload and lots of second guessing but I don't think I have any of that here. Ran out a bit of energy at the end but on balance a bit better and I leave feeling positive about the team.

Republicans are waging a generalized war on science, but I think many of them don’t fully grok that RFK isn’t at war with science alone or per se: he’s at war with sick people, and of the view that only the lucky should be allowed to survive into old age. They are know nothings, he is Mengele.

If I were someone whose project is reviving the factional strength and electoral viability of centrist Dems, and if I was someone always banging on about meeting public opinion where it is, I think I would be counseling the centrist faction to actually be responsive to public opinion on Gaza.

As someone who voted for Kamala Harris, Dems/Liberals/Speakers of Truth, simply cannot save or sanewash Biden's legacy on Gaza. There's no version of this where he's not a villain, even if we accept the premise that, on net, Trump has been worse.

Democrats will do themselves, and the country, a disservice if they don't rightfully distance themselves from Biden on Gaza and chart a new, humane path forward. There simply is no reasonable path forward that includes being able to hold Biden up as a standard of decency in American politics.

For every quote you can dig up of a Biden official gesturing towards Palestinian humanity, there are dozens of them attempting to cover up IDF atrocities and waiting for "investigations" that they knew weren't being conducted before commenting further. There's no way around this.
