extremely not the point but on top of it all he *didn‘t even get the quote right*. so excited to slur on the record he tripped over his own paltry attempt to justify it

Councilor Mitch Green@councilorgreen.bsky.social

Today in the Housing and Permitting Committee Chair Avalos had to interrupt and call to order Brian Owendoff who violated our rules of decorum and engaged in ableist slurs at the dais. Mr. Owendoff’s comments were deplorable and the chair was right to gavel him out.

this 9/11, I’m asking the portland bureau of planning and sustainability to take a bold stance against al qaeda as part of the central city code amendments project

TIL that Mohamed Atta was a professional urban planner, of the preservationist nimby persuasion, and that his graduate school thesis was about how high-rises ruin neighborhood character 😳.

buying like 100 jerry cans and filling them out of my tap to sell over the border in the wretched and forsaken land of gresham

Jennifer@jenwith1n.bsky.social

I'm very plugged into the Bull Run stuff, but it's really funny to me how much people here don't appreciate how good the tap water is. Yeah, I bet the new groundwater in Gresham doesn't taste as good! Enjoy living off of bottled water like I did growing up in NJ! www.wweek.com/news/2026/09...

alternatively, renting the cheapest apartment i can find on the edge of bull run territory and running a loooooong hose out the window

Pretty disappointed to see a handful of notable Portland restaurants lend their name to the latest “Portland business chamber in sheep’s clothing” PAC. props for how breathlessly they repeat the word “progressive” in their rhetoric to justify their plan of tax cuts and more cops www.goportlandgo.org

don’t want to discourage anyone from taking every possible opportunity including this one to make some noise about transit (I did, you should!) but suggest you also watch the gov’s workgroup discuss how a) they didn’t write the survey and b) it sucks (~4:11:25) www.youtube.com/live/misMtYm...

youtube.comRebuilding Our Transportation Vision Workgroup - Meeting 4YouTube video by OregonDOT
Mia Maldonado@miamaldonado.bsky.social

The group tasked with developing recommendations on how to maintain Oregon’s transportation system wants to hear from Oregonians about what they think the state’s transportation priorities should be. oregoncapitalchronicle.com/2026/08/14/n...

highlights include - the workgroup seemingly didnt ask for this - it went live *before* they saw it last week - they raised several concerns I share re: outdated and confusing framing, relevance to 2027 - one chair asked for it to be taken down and rewritten, unclear if/to what degree that happened

tbh I was encouraged by the level of pushback from members re: the survey and the way many are talking about their work. they will continue to face political pressure to only recc austerity and managed decline. but that’s not the task they were given and they shouldn’t accept it without a fight!

Since so many of you have asked: Yes, part of the public sex forest plan is to toll this section of the interstate and reduce traffic speeds with staggered time entry so that passing tourists can gawk. The tree canopy will of course obscure the view, but the rubes won’t know that.

OPB@opb.org

Starting Sept. 11, all southbound lanes of Interstate 5 in Portland’s Rose Quarter will be closed for up to five weeks for long-awaited repairs. The closure will stretch between Interstate 405 and Interstate 84 with the Broadway/Weidler exit remaining open.

ultimately so funny that rip city mgmt’s approach in these emails was “we would rather die than create a written public record of anything we say or do” and then their lawyer just forwarded the whole thing to the City

wrightkatu.bsky.social@wrightkatu.bsky.social

NEW: Internal emails obtained by KATU show Portland Trail Blazers leaders debated whether to respond to the City of Portland's questions on key pieces of a proposed Moda Center deal, with one executive saying the city's requests felt like "a trap”. katu.com/news/investi...

“'The primary reason the petition failed to qualify was the low number of signatures from registered Portland voters,' an announcement from the Auditor’s Office states." Not beating the Clark County Constituency charges, PPA.

A ballot initiative that sought to direct 25 percent of Portland’s Clean Energy Fund toward hiring additional police officers failed to gather enough valid signatures to qualify for the November ballot.

Because the loudest voices in the city want you to forget this, I just want to say Portland is great. There are so many people who love this city so much and show up every day to make it more welcoming and more just. It’s a beautiful place full of people who give a shit.

The league has to get rid of this Dundon guy. He bought the Blazers to hold the city of Portland hostage for arena money and now he's telling all of his underlings to shittalk the city so he can move to Kansas City or something. Cut this shit out or the league will be held hostage by similar ghouls.

Fischer 🛠️🚇@fischer.bsky.social

if this is going to be the line then fuck these guys

frantic backpedaling to a position he mocked when Council said it last week, shameless attempts to blame the counterparty for his own failure to whip the votes he‘d need to pass anything… this is the kind of peak performance you only really see from a lean six sigma black belt, folks

wrightkatu.bsky.social@wrightkatu.bsky.social

“…The absence of essential details from Blazers is slowing progress at a moment when urgency is required. We know NBA is committed to PDX & we look forward to working with them to ensure negotiations on a renovated Moda Center and a new long-term lease happen in good faith.”

The Portland Planning Commission just voted 6-2 to adopt code provisions that would legalize tall, thin residential buildings on many more sites in the Central City. efiles.portlandoregon.gov/record/17793...
