Love the idea, let's start a train of art inspired by Bioware games ❤️ These stories mean the world to me, its characters inspired me for years, the artists and writers behind them literally helped shape my artistic journey. I am thankful for everything you've created 🫶

On this day in 2022, a fat faced tabby was caught in a trap. Scared, hungry, and sick with pneumonia, he spent some time in the ICU. The rest is history, but I like to consider today, his shelter intake date, Fishtopher's "birthday."

Old man cat went in for his checkup and a blood draw to see how he’s doing on his thyroid meds - he so impressed the vet examine him she couldn’t believe he was fourteen, and she insisted on giving him dreamies while gushing about how well he’d sat for her to shave and stick him 😂

But! His teeth are good, his weight is excellent, his coat is in beautiful condition, so unless the blood panel turns up something lurking, it seems like he’s doing much much better

Update! Having recovered from this (mostly), he set off on a long planned bike ride across Kenya this past week, came off his bike during it, continued with the ride while severely bruised, flew home yesterday, went to the doc today, aaaaaand guess who’s got two broken ribs.

So on the one hand my seventy four year old father got hit by a car yesterday ….on the other, he apparently got up this morning and took himself off to his favourite coffee place, so I guess he’s Fine????

Wait no this is a really good metaphor though - I *can* run, and run quite well, without shoes, BUT - I am also far more likely to trip and break something. And in this metaphor the ‘something’ is ‘perspective’ or ‘proportions’, or ‘what the FUCK is that anatomy doing’

Using references is a bit like wearing shoes. You can, technically, do without, and sometimes it's more comfy to kick them off and relax. Most people though, run faster with shoes on.

I’ve been at work all weekend! I’m tired!! I’ve been a good little goose and had a quiet evening and a warm shower and gone to bed early with a book and no screens!!! But noooooo, no sleep for YOU

Day of nine billion annoying little errands that are all inconveniently spaced just far enough apart to be a pain vastly improved by this delightful gentleman being the official store greeter at the flooring warehouse

Worked normal day shift + the bar at an event, got home just before midnight aching all over, had a cup of tea in bed - get up briefly to go to the loo before I put the lights out and hopefully collapse into blissful unconsciousness, and this is what I come back to 😂

Happy Autumn omnes!🏛️🍂🌋 This morning it was the Autumn equinox, the official start of autumn here in the northern hemisphere 🍂 to mark the occasion I’m sharing my ‘Autumn in Pompeii’ piece complete with some of the reference images (see replies)

Watching the premier of the new ‘How To Live on Earth’ documentary (it’s just started on YouTube if you’re interested!) and Cumberbatch’s opening line is ‘why would anyone want to live on mars, it’s horrible’ 😂

Listening to a YouTube video about the impacts of beaver rewilding, and the algorithm serves me up with an ad about organic farming, which I only properly tune into after several seconds. I am being advertised ‘organic raw milk, as nature intended’ 💀💀💀💀

Setting aside my quibbles with ‘as nature intended’ as a stock phrase, my brother in agriculture, by that logic nature also ‘intended’ the e.coli you ordered with your raw milk, so good luck with that

The number of cases of cervical cancer reported in Scotland among women given the HPV vaccine at 12-13 years of age is now zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Every time I see one of these headlines, I’m torn between two reactions - one is deep suspicion that I’m falling for a trap by reacting at all, and the other incredulity at a sentence that essentially reads ‘Arsonist warns fires are deadly, continues to fling gasoline everywhere!’

Had my first in-person with the occupational therapist today (essentially; hand physio for my bewilderingly flexible joints) and I’ve come away juggling an absolute array of splints and braces and compression gloves and weird sticky stuff to make gripping easier and exercise printouts and -

My uncle passed it onto Louise, having told her the whole story - and she promptly turned round and produced this gorgeous bit of art using this charcoal that had been carbon dated to around about the 1300’s (and by sheer coincidence, nailed the location of the actual dig)

She gave it to my uncle and it’s now got pride of place in his sunroom, and particularly in this age of AI slop, something about this whole sequence of events fills me with absolute joy 😭

The crazy part is this: she did it with charcoal that had been excavated during an archaeological excavation on the shores of the loch, looking for evidence of charcoal-burning industry in the area

Another friend of my uncle had been peripherally involved and brought him some of the excess charcoal they’d found as a fun twist on the First Footing tradition when he visited over Hogmanay

This is hanging in my Uncle’s house in Ayr, southwest Scotland, and it’s got the most incredible story. It’s a lovely charcoal rendering of Loch Eck, a freshwater loch in Argyll and Bute, done by a local artist (Louise McBride) who he’s known since she was a kid, having been a friend of her parents
