www.theguardian.com/world/2026/o... Serbia last night and now this. But we can't be complacent as we're living through an era of attempts to corrupt democracy with profound consequences for both the environment and global democracy

This 17th-century dolls’ house cost as much as an Amsterdam canal house. Crafted over 25 years, the doll’s house reveals a world of extraordinary wealth, ambition and craftsmanship. 👁️ https://www.rijksmuseum.nl/en/stories/story/dollshouse-special

TODAY is the last day to register to vote in several states. I urge you to double check your state's deadline, verify that you are registered, and make changes to your registration if needed. Then contact three friends or family members and have them do the same. https://whenweallvote.org/
Many thanks to @eicathomefinn.bsky.social and anyone who has a vote to help ensure our historic and natural environment is cared for, accessible and welcoming to everyone by voting in the upcoming agm
Support the National Trust by voting for Council members by 11:59pm on 30 October 2026. Quickvote is convenient if you're short of time or worried about inadvertently voting for Restore Trust's Bonigala, Cristea, Goldman, Mealing or Omrani. In our often bad times, the Trust's doing good things.
My then history teacher gave them their first prize She hated rock or indeed any music of that kind (she was a classical music buff)but as she explained she had to admit they were doing what they did better than anyone else in the competition (who were doing what they did aka classical music)

If you would like to add your voice to tens of thousands of people thanking RNLI volunteers for their work, 38 Degrees have organised this open letter to express public support (at a time when a hateful fringe have been intimidating & abusing RNLI volunteers) act.38degrees.org.uk/act/rnli-tha...

Watch how we started our research on de DeHeem paintings using MA-XRF scanning. Such a privilege to be able to examine these magnificent works up close. #heritagesscience #painting #art www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mt61...

'Visitors to Nostell, a Palladian mansion near Wakefield in West Yorkshire, will be able to watch cutting-edge research normally undertaken behind closed doors in labs, the National Trust said.' Carp all you like, but the National Trust is a national treasure. @nationaltrust.org.uk 2/2

'The open heritage science project, scheduled to begin on Thursday, is a UK first and will deploy techniques used at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam during its famous public restoration of Rembrandt’s masterpiece The Night Watch.' SUCH a good initiative. 1/2

“Palestine protests are treated differently in Britain to all other forms of activism. Direct action is regarded as terrorism and words on a placard are rendered illegal. The only time our equipment has been seized and destroyed was when it related to Palestine.” https://bit.ly/3S0QUqP

A lot of media coverage of the ‘AI’ reading of the Herculaneum scrolls really fails to understand what’s happened here. There’s no language processing happening, the AI/ML is not trained on a corpus of texts or language. It can detect ink to see shapes. HUMAN EXPERTS are then transcribing the text.

🔥 What a combination - @zackpolanski.bsky.social and @willdalrymple.bsky.social! So much here: - Palestine - India - absence of colonial history in schools - wilful ignorance of politicians & media - and the East India Company's lasting corruption of British democracy 🤑 youtu.be/13zQVPW9LjU?...

Good news, everyone! I have a short piece coming out in The Conversation on Monday that explains the main issues with this study. It's impossible for me to have the same media reach as the original press release. So I'd be extremely grateful if people could help me share it as widely as possible 🙏
Good news, everyone www.cnn.com/2026/05/14/h...
