DC is structurally disempowered and legally disenfranchised but they do find ways to stick it to their overlords lol

91 - Travelers Inn * A man who stays the night in a strange place is still a member of the human community, and still needs company. There is no reason why he should creep into a hole, and watch TV alone, the way he does in a roadside motel.

I can walk (or take a short bus ride) to the only Leonardo in the Western Hemisphere. (I also know how to bake cookies, assemble burritos, fry chicken, and do the other things.)

When Woke 2 arrives we are reorganizing the DFW exurbs as workers’ communes

He is of course once again going to win the Eastern Shore by like a 40-point margin

Republican Rep. Andy Harris incorrectly told a reporter they were breaking the law as the reporter and others recorded an exchange with him last night. Harris had just wrapped up a debate with Democratic challenger Dan Schwartz.

Having grown up in Wales, I can testify that if you are actually worried about your culture and history being under threat, the thing to do is write poetry and songs, perform plays, tell stories and organise festivals, not just sit around whining.

God, grant me the courage to change the things I can and incredible new powers to change the things I can't.

FYI if you were looking for a reason to get rid of the ubiquitous (and creepily intrusive) “YouVersion” Bible app, the recent update to Catena blows it out of the water.

Two fighter jet flyovers scheduled over the White House this week - one at 5pm today and another at noon tomorrow. These are incredibly loud and, if you aren't expecting them, frightening.

DC is a great city of common, collective, shared public places, and we intend to keep it that way. Save your isolation bubble for the suburban car commute.

The Kennedy Center joins the Reflecting Pool, Lafayette Park and sort of the White House itself (no tours) where supposed renovations have led to indefinite loss of public access. After taxpayer funded plans/construction, these places are fenced off and closed down, not improved.

Today D.C. CFO Glen Lee spoke to the D.C. Chamber of Commerce about the state's the city's economy, and, well, he said "economic and revenue signals are flashing red." More than 36,000 jobs lost since last year, unemployment higher than nation, home price growth down.

“Elon Musk destroyed USAID as a mechanism for killing off as many of the global poor and non-white as he can before they kill him first (as he, insanely, believes)” is not a conspiracy theory. In truth, it’s very hard to conclude anything else.

For a certain kind of white man, there is no fear more primal than the fear that the people they have abused will gain power and treat them the same way.

I was just admiring this lil guy on Sunday.

Today might be a useful day to remember that cultural conservatives tend to score lower in appreciation for abstract art - something that researchers have found can be attributed (at least in part) to the lower tolerance for ambiguity that tends to accompany such political views. wapo.st/4dgXPDA
