"You claim the President of the United States didn't do enough to stem the rising tide of fascism, yet your podcast has only been political for two years. Couldn't *you* have done it instead?"
Like, I guess the article is kinda slopulist and written by someone without a super qualified background in politics, but focus on that, we don't need some apples to presidents comparison.
Finally got some pieces of that "I tried fighting against educational inequality by choosing a worse school for my daughter to go to" article in front of me, and the thing I find striking about its racial politics is how much it decries segregation in explaining the choice to patron it.
Like... this woman sent her daughter to a worse school, because of how she looks. She did segregation for the school system. It's class integration, but she doesn't call it that, and the savior complex where she saw herself saving the PTA isn't "fighting for every kid", it's pure individualism.
Bethany wore a “Protect The Dolls” t-shirt during rehearsals. The BBC posted it on their socials then quietly deleted and reposted it without showing her from the front. On TV last night they actually blurred the message #Strictly
Seven Havens thoughts: I'm hooked, but I'm unsure if this show will have the rewatchability that ATLA and LoK did. LoK admittedly leaned a lot on callbacks and fanservice, but those still gave the episodes a decent amount of weight and momentum. Here, the character beats work well, but kinda rote.
I think it's cool that of our protagonists, one is a lot more like Aang and one is a lot more like Korra. Meanwhile the animal companions being hybrid primate-carnivores combines Momo and Naga. Hope the sprinkles of backstory we've gotten have a payoff that enriches these early episodes.

I love the tactic of "we are doing the thing everyone assumed we were gonna do, but never explicitly confirmed that we were going to do"; brilliant, exciting, didn't push it too hard. And we got almost no info about Korra, which is another hook. Also I am not clear how much time has passed?
My pre-assumption had been that this world was the immediate aftermath of Korra's time, and that the next Avatar was her direct reincarnation; but overall, the way the characters here talk about history makes that seem incorrect. Also seems that nations have totally dissolved in the time since LoK.
This is just an utterly dim and blinkered view of everything good about being a person so probably not great this guy ran the platform that’s captured every political and media institution
incredible how every major television/media outlet is going to be pro-israel and ultra conservative now and controlled by one family. awesome that Hollywood, countless workers, and the public are going to be fucked and it's in large part the fault of Gavin newsom
The BBC has long given up even pretending to be interested in who these people are, why they are coming or how they might feel, in favour of acting as a kind of shop window for the parties to display their wares of violence and cruelty
...also flabbergasted than many cis ppl can't see how contradictory Assumptions #7 & 8 are. didn't get into it in the piece, but the absolute glee with which some ppl say #8 ("well, enjoy the camps Republicans are going to put trans ppl in") is bone chilling... juliaserano.medium.com/on-democrats...
Same people who seem to think it’s bad for China to beat us at AI are perfectly fine with China beating us at high speed rail, solar energy, wind energy, shall we go on
Got blocked for fact-checking a fact checker, but I ain't stopping.
It's weird to call something that only 6 Dems voted on, "must-pass". I don't see how that's guilt by association.
Aaron Ford and Xavier Becerra: Obviously past votes only mean so much when criticizing what people feel is a partywide pivot. These are good reasons to support them against their opponents though.

Jeffrey Hulum III: Kinda sounds like acquittal by association. So what if other Mississippi Dems voted yes? Hulum is the one running for federal office! The fact that it was 26 yea, 4 nay, 10 present does show how slim the picking are though.
Hallucinated thesis statement. While this being a 13 state (8 red) 37 candidate list does mean that the "a party cannot [be won back]" rhetoric comes across kinda alarmist, I think it would also be fair to read Erin's article as discussing a fringe that will be appearing on many people's ballots.

No citation or year on these votes, but similar to with Peltola, these statements on Trone Garriott and Turek are just value judgments. Including their good votes would be more responsible of Erin even if they predate their worse statements.
Beau Bayh: Similar to before, the criticism is just that she mentioned negative things without mentioning the positive things that were also in her linked source. Factually Paulauski is on the money.
This first paragraph seems to be a fabrication on Paulauski's part. Allred was elected in 2018, lost re-election in 2024, and is now running for a different district (33, whose current rep is running for a judge position).
Allred voted "no" on a 2023 bill and pivoted in 2024.
Untrue. Maybe things have changed in the past 12 hours, but as of now, Erin's site correctly shows that Don Davis did in fact back MTG's bill. Odd that Mr. Paulauski didn't try checking that (or maybe Erin's source on govtrack.us is wrong)
Women’s boyfriends and husbands are using this case as a way to degrade and threaten them—stories are popping up all over Reddit. It’s becoming an antifeminist litmus test, much like believing Amber Heard was. Believing that Clancy had postpartum psychosis will get you smeared and harassed.

i wholly support and empathize with any trans people who veer into modes of assimilation *as a personal choice*, but i cannot emphasize enough how toxic assimilation *as ideology* is. that shit is beyond heinous and needs to be nuked from orbit whenever it rears its ugly head
i don't think its like super developed but there is a pretty coherent ideology forming and it is incredibly misogynistic, homophobic, angry, and hateful. and ppl are actively getting drawn into it. i think thats bad and i think thats scary and im kind of tired of pretending its not.
