I do not need to have another half finished blanket lying around. Anyway... I've started making squares for a new blanket. How many unfinished blanket projects do I already have on the go? More than one. Less than five. Stop asking me questions.

The real unfair competition women are being forced into with men is having women's sports constantly separated off as a distinct event which is made to compete commercially with much better funded and socially and institutionally enfranchised men's sporting events & found inadequate by that standard

Structurally there's no reason for this at all. The Olympics manages to have men's and women's events side by side. World athletics does too. But in team sports and many other areas there's this insistence that any women's event that happens must compete with rather than run united with men's events

I went googling (because English) and what the hell is going on over there? I love it. But I'm also scared. But also: congratulations.

Cheesecake Factory made a bold artistic choice and provoked a genuine emotion in the viewer. Love it or hate it, decorating a cheesecake restaurant to look like a pre-Sumerian ziggurat worshipping a cosmic squid is the core of what it means to be human

My local McDonald's has renovated and turned into the most bland interior imaginable. I want more cosmic squid cult ziggurats in restaurant design.

The thing about being churchwarden is that I know where every single heating pipe runs in this cold old church, so there's a 50/50 chance at this time of year that you'll find me in some random corner where it's actually somehow a full five degrees warmer than anywhere else.

Right now I'm reclining on the dias in the Lady Chapel. Is this because I'm feeling a particular devotion to Our Lady this evening? No. It's because the heating pipe runs under the dias and it's warmed up all the wood so I'm toasting my booty.

Constantly telling people to go and kneel at the altar rail in the Lady Chapel in winter because you can get your prayers in while also warming your knees on the heating pipe that runs directly underneath that part of the wooden altar platform.

Oh, and by the way, given I know a lot of my followers haven't been watching this story? That trans doctor the Daily Mail article is fixated on? Did absolutely nothing wrong. Cleared of every charge. Was just living her life, forced to flee the country by NHS bigots and the British media. Yeah.

Imagine feeling like your country's newsmedia could at any time turn its back and begin this level of hate campaign against you, to the point that they harass you and everyone you love to the literal ends of the earth, mining you for content until your death and even after. How would you live life?

Another one here where the British press just smashed fuck out of a member of the public’s life for no good reason, just because they wanted to and nobody will stop them doing at. And they’re still going, even now.

the AMOUNT of ppl who place an order & assume that all I do every day is ship orders, & especially that I just have a warehouse full of tshirts etc here in this little terraced house to send out next day. It's got better since I've been very vocal about shipping once a week but some are still miffed

The thing about people getting married is that I get candids taken in my natural environment. Also, you know, I get to participate in the joy of seeing them share their love for one another, or whatever.

Why yes, we have been having some real issues with antisocial behaviour around the church lately, and it has been driving me absolutely insane, why do you ask?

My city centre churchwarden drama: people have been digging up human remains to get at the drugs that dealers bury in our churchyard My friends countryside churchwarden drama: birds nested in the church and after trying everything including flying a hawk inside she had to get a farmer to shoot them

(I have to laugh because it's driving me insane. Stop digging up the dead people in my care. There are so many parks nearby where you can bury your drugs instead. Please.)

Council are like "its your fault because your graveyard is open to the public" and idk, it's been open to the public since the 600s and this has only been a problem since you drew an arbitrary line in the city centre and told anyone behaving antisocially to fuck off over it. Right into our graveyard

At the resurrection everyone from the St Nick's churchyard is gonna be straight up out of the ground and absolutely SPRINTING towards the horizon due to the copious amount of meth that's been stashed in their ribcages.

The thing about looking after a church is that no matter what the church is, and no matter where it's located, you're always gonna be involved in Situations.

The thing about people getting married is that I get candids taken in my natural environment. Also, you know, I get to participate in the joy of seeing them share their love for one another, or whatever.

My top sartorial tip is to get little pewter pin badges of things you like and wear one as a lapel pin on your suit jacket. Especially if it's something a little bit odd. People go CRAZY for my bat lapel pin.

(I just love bats. I have a garland of paper bats hanging over my TV year round and at this time of year people think they're Halloween decor. But no. It's my year-round bat garland, it goes perfectly with my year-round ghost garland. You should get some, you cowards.)

October is the month where I finish up making the year's event posters for church, and as much as I love the Holy Week poster I made this year, I think these are my faves. Probably because they're a series so I got to have fun making a set of them with a cohesive visual language that stands out.

I have a LOT of opinions about the importance of inclusive churches upping their graphic design game, but that rant is for another time. Suffice to say, I've been quietly teaching clergy and church administrators basic skills and helping them overhaul their design work for years now.

The impact a well thought out wordmark and 'church colour' can have (especially when accompanied by a short slide deck explaining why the colour, font, and design were chosen) cannot be overstated. Add in a website that's simple, informative, and easy for volunteers to maintain - and you're sorted.

Happy baptism-anniversary to me. It's been six years. Between the getting taken to church court, and the BBC documentary about me and the Bishop, it feels like I really have speed-run this whole Church of England thing.

ok but this is actually an appropriate way to honor Bacchus and i think the ancients would have agreed

Found a copy of the Church Times from December 1978 stashed away in the vestry recently. I regret to inform you, we're still hung up on the same 'issues' almost 50 years later.

This shouldn't be a hot take, but the Church Of England needs to stop making people who don't believe in and/or care about Apostolic Succession into Bishops.

Also, the Church of England has too many Bishops. It's seen as a promotion to be grasped at, not a spiritual burden to be borne. There's well over 100 of them in active posts right now. For comparison, the Church in Wales has 6. The Episcopal Church of Scotland has 7.

My Spiritual Director was up for a Bishopric recently, and, after praying about it throughout the interview process etc, he ultimately declined, as he decided God was not calling him to be a Bishop. It's no small part of why I find him to be such a good Spiritual Director. He listens first.

I've always been disproportionately annoyed by adverts and after streaming got ad-riddled I decided enough was enough and got a personal jellyfin server set up by a friend, and have now set up a custom launcher for my Chromecast, as part of my mission to strip out every single advert from my TV.

As part of this ancelled all my streaming services for being too expensive and shit, except for channel 4+ because it is very cheap (£40 a year) and removes adverts from all of their own shows and some of the shows they licence (though sadly not all of them).

The government stole £150,000 from the privately-raised Aberfan Disaster Memorial Fund and used it for disaster clearance. It was only paid back 30 years later ... without interest.

Sixty years, tomorrow. They gave the man in charge a knighthood. They made the local community pay for the remembrance garden. No-one held to account. I always think of the dinner lady, Nansi, who shielded five kids with her body and died in the process but they all lived. #Aberfan

It’s come to something when a photographer has to get legal advice, before displaying this photo in an exhibition, due to the risk of being prosecuted as a terrorist, but that’s exactly what I had to do yesterday. What a state this country is in.
