Twenty years of working for less pay than I could have easily made elsewhere because I believed I was helping Americans. Trump and the DOGE children must really think I'm a sucker, but I sleep well at night with a clear conscience.

The US federal government was actually less wasteful than most big companies and other large organizations, not least because government had an amazing asset: highly experienced, educated, knowledgeable, talented people choosing public service when they could make a lot more in the private sector.
