Q: How do you define socialism personally? JD VANCE: I think in reality what it actually means in the American context is you want to replace American workers with foreigners workers, and you want boys to play in girls' sports

For those here who will inevitably criticize Judge Reyes for having believed the government at all: This is what "building a record" looks like. She is, I promise you, nobody's fool, and she has watched how other efforts to hold the government in contempt have gone.

🤡 Schmitt beclowns himself 🤡 Schmitt concocted an elaborate conspiracy theory that Smith traveled to Atl for a Hawks game and to collude with Fani Willis, & flashed his "evidence" before accusing Smith of perjury. There's just one problem -- his facts were totally wrong. Here's the whole sequence:

The idea that 82% of pregnant women who got vaccinated against Covid had miscarriages doesn't pass the smell test. That would have been 4 out of 5 pregnancies.

I see a pretty strong difference between waving a flag at a no kings rally or a protest, vs being visibly, overtly draped in an american flag other times at least among my group, having a flag shirt or bumpersticker - outside of a protest context - would be seen as one stop off of wearing a red hat

Good God, this man holds the most powerful position in the world. He has the nuclear codes. He has access to the most knowledgeable experts in any given topic. And this is the shit he not only goes through his head, but thinks is worthy of broadcasting publicly. Just a world-class embarrassment.

Trump on Truth Social: "Many people don’t know, or assume, that DUMB ends in 'b'"

We need to start demanding he release the full results of these tests. Not that I don't necessarily think he passed them. But the public needs to see, in black and white, what the hell he's bragging about passing.

Trump: "No president has ever taken a cognitive test except me. I've taken three of them. One in the first administration. They're hard. The first question is easy. You have a lion, a bear, an alligator, and a squirrel. 'Which is the squirrel?'"

I'm sure I'm not the first person to observe this, but the irony of it all just hit me this morning. Donald Trump is obsessed with the Nobel Peace Prize. Why is he obsessed with the NPP? Because Barack Obama won it. Why did Obama win the Nobel Peace Prize? Because he wasn't George W. Bush.

Anyone currently involved in federal immigration enforcement, every officer, every bureaucrat, every lawyer, every judge, is a member of the most evil group of people this country has seen since Reconstruction. Darkness personified, every one. Doing this to children is beyond depraved.

Mike Hixenbaugh@mikehixenbaugh.com

On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast. The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me. But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.

For most of my adult life, very broadly speaking, it has usually been the case that partisans and people who don’t get in the weeds of policy want to see politics through the lens of a simple, cartoonish moral binary with a good side & an evil side. And *usually* it’s more complicated than that.

"And the rush by Trump officials and their cult-like followers to justify it? That’s American too. The lies, so blatant, so obvious. These people have learned that truth doesn’t matter anymore, so long as they can repeat the lies enough on enough friendly TV networks."

An American Murder Two weeks ago, ICE agent Jonathan Ross murdered Nicole Good in cold blood. I said then that we had to abolish ICE and impeach Trump & Noem before they incited another murder. As more details have emerged, it's only looked worse. Multiple angles of video showed Good was trying to…

Things worth really hammering to any family and acquaintances whose reflexive attitude is “but we gotta enforce the law”: (1) Lots of the folks being targeted came here legally; the administration has retroactively declared them “illegal” despite having done nothing wrong

Venezuelan family seeking asylum -- entered legally, both parents with college degrees -- took their 7-year-old to the ER for a nosebleed and fever. ICE, which is now targeting hospitals as well as churches schools, blocked the child from getting care and detained them instead

BREAKING — Mayor of Lewiston, Maine posts on FB that ICE is coming to the city imminently. This confirms my reporting the agency is planning a surge in the city and state generally. Lewiston is home to a large Somali-American population, which made up 4.6% of the population as of the 2020 census.

Fuck this administration. Fuck their supporters. And fuck anyone who buys into their bullshit.

A 6-year-old just lost his mother. A woman was shot in the face in front of her wife. The swift, lockstep attempt to dehumanize and villainize Renee Nicole Good might be the most depraved thing we've seen yet from these ghouls and their supporters. These people are utterly fucking dead inside.

I have what you may call an eclectic taste in music. I had Pandora playing in the background while trying to get back to work after reading the news out of Minneapolis. And Weird Al's song Trigger Happy came on.

The MAGA base has long been ok with othering groups because, for the most part, they're insulated from that othering. But I know some MAGA personally where this will hit home. Whether or not they turn a blind eye to it or dismiss it as "just words," we'll see.

On the way out from voting tonight, there was a woman collecting signatures for a petition to "keep boys out of girls' sports." I understand that's an issue that many people may find reasonable, but the reality is, it's a bigoted attempt to attack trans and intersex students. 1/4

These issues are much more complex and nuanced than too many people want to admit. Blanket bans like this are motivated by fear and animus, dressed up as "common sense." If someone asks you to sign this petition, please say no. 4/4

I wish I was better at speaking off the cuff. In general, I think education is the way to win over voters on this issue. But in the moment, what came out when asked to sign it was "No thank you, I think that's a really bigoted opinion."

I'm willing to give grace to people who may not understand trans issues. It took me years to wrap my head around these issues, and I'm still no expert. So if you think a law keeping trans girls out of girls' sports sounds benign or even like common sense, I understand that perspective. 2/4
