Movie recommendation for tonight, Wildwood Just back from seeing this and my god what a masterpiece! Utterly jawdropping at every moment, staggering artistry on display! Made me feel like a kid again watching the likes of Labyrinth of Willow for the first time! TOM WAITS PLAYED THE COYOTE GENERAL!?

I decided to inflict self harm by watching Disaster Movie for the first time the other day. I got precisely what I sought out I guess. The pain I experienced watching that garbage was my fault.

It reinforced a general lesson with comedy that you can’t cheat the process of actually telling a story. You need characters with motivations. You need a coherent plot. This is its core sin on top of every other disgusting shit it pulled.

Gee I haven’t posted in a while. I guess for an update: > I got my own apartment finally. > I got promoted in my job > I’ve pivoted away from the game dev project I was working on and haven’t quite nailed anything down yet. > I’ve been playing a lot of Kenshi and LoL Classic lately.

I am begging tech journalists to stop taking corpo wishcasting as fact. A postprocessing pass that everyone hates and which currently requires a whole second 5090 is not poised to become "the default" in a few years.

Nvidia’s new AI upscaling gaming technology struck gamers as uncanny and off-putting. Developers don't seem to like it either, but it could be “the default” in a few years. www.wired.com/story/gamers...

Solasta 2’s character editor kind of stinks, but I like that the devs are pretty prompt in announcing they’re working on it. I like early access participation.

With respect to the differences between video game RPGs and TTRPGS, combat encounters are at their best when they allow the players to experience something, instead of being fodder to grind levels, and the former should be the primary motive for having them, esp in the TTRPG medium.

I’m thinking about parody games and idk, the concept is harder to execute in games then in other media because like, how do you make a mockery of player interactions in a way that’s comfortable?

As much as I am happy to see the re-releases of the first Rayman and its prototype, I feel like I had more fun playing the fan-made remake than the original game.
