Just found a huge pile of office 2007 installation discs with license codes at work. Might try that out since every other office software available today suck so much
I use libre office currently, it works fine and it's fast, but the UI is confusing, requires much more clicks to do the same things in excel, and some features are kind of broken making using it really annoying to use overall.
I tried Only Office to see if it's be better. It is, but it's extremely slow for some reason. Everything I do seem to freeze the program for half a second, and opening it takes forever. I went back to libre office after two weeks.
FYI youβre not being polite by waving someone through a stop sign when itβs your right of way. Being polite is moving your ass according to the rules and not confusing people.
Newest addition to my #PhysicalMedia collection: south park, season 1 through 20. Found in a local store, 5 bucks each, 100$ total. Not sure I could've got a better deal on that
At my parent's place this morning. It's -30Β° outside today but very sunny. The wood stove was lit this morning when it was still dark but it's now dead. Its still very comfortable inside thanks to the good hemp isolation and the solarium blowing air inside
I finally decided to give vibe coding a shot. Here's my opinion: It is not a good tool, and those who think it is convinced themselves it was because they don't know any better.
Being a 3D printing enthusiast with 0 budget goes from
"I HATE THIS FILTHY PEICE OF SHIT WHY CAN'T IT JUST WORK"
to "OMG I love this thing so much it's the best machine ever look at this beautiful part"
And there is nothing in between. Why is everything I do like this?
Man prusa is killing it these past few weeks! Silicone printing, open source RFID, core one L and now that?
I have so many ideas. If there is a way to attach this thing to a Voron I'm 100% bying it
There are still ways you can bypass this, by using rufus or by pressing shift+F10 and then typing "start ms-cxh:localonly" in the terminal. But those are workaround. "Hacks". You shouldn't need to do shit like this for such a basic feature
This is the reason I prefer physical media over privacy. I like to watch my movies in english, my family prefers french dubbed, dvds offers both without having to download the movie twice. And you are guaranteed to have a certain quality too.
Back when literally NO ONE (especially the studio industry) knew what DVDβs were for in the 90βs, anime fans were the first to explain the necessity of subtitles, dual audio, chapters, and permanent physical ownership. πΏππ
My newest addition to my #PhysicalMedia collection:
Fullmetal alchemist (2003).
Some people ask me why I love dvds and blue-rays so much. Well, this is it. There is currenly no way to watch this series legally, unless you got it physical when they were still beimg sold
Friendly reminder that if you're using an ender 3 you should absolutely ditch the horrible default extruder for a dual gear one as soon as possible

"vibe coding" is a phrase wasted on AI nonsense. these fuckers don't know that REAL vibe coding is when i'm tackling a project way above my skill level and i still manage to succeed at whatever i'm doing. now those are real vibes. not that claude shit
My phone has approximately 40000x the processing power of the first computer to run tetris, yet it takes forever to load the game, which now has updates in the hundreds of MBs...what happened to keeping things lean?
I'm setting up Chrome on one of my users's new laptop and it's been a while since I used that browser. It now has a search tool to find opened tabs now? That's crazy. And also very cursed, I hate it. Please close your tabs...
Iβm getting to the age where Iβm pretty sure everything is a scam. Unknown number? Scam. Facebook friend request? Scam. Movie over 90 minutes? Scam. Person being nice to me? Definitely a scam.
The "Boss makes a dollar I make a dime, that's why [your action here] on company time" is absolutely beholden to the Ghost Rider Rule: if you think you can make it better, no you cant.
Shit on company time encourages even passive rebellion; longer versions just highlight generations of failures.
Adobe express seems to be down and the group chat is full of people in full melt down that theyβre unable to deliver key assetsβ¦
THIS is why you cannot trust online tools. If youβre doing anything professionally you need stuff thatβll work offline.
Salesforce is like buying a mercedes off marketplace. Seems awesome at first, but turns out to be a large money pit. And by the time you get to nitice, you're already in too deep. "Might as well invest some more"... But no matter how much money you pour into it, it's never really gonna be great
I like when youtubers put the title in the thumbnail, because then I know what language the video's in. It's so fucking annoying that every title is automatically translated, and that apparently can't be turned off
I used to prefer android because it gave more control to the user. Now I feel like it's worse than IOS, at least samsung's version of it.

Turn off notifications for "system apps"? Burried in the settings, turns back on every update. Want to uninstall a sponsored app? How about you go fuck yourself. You don't want to update? That's fine, we'll force it tonight, Microsoft style. SD card slot? What for, you can use the cloud instead!
Hot take: LED headlights on cars aren't even that blinding and annoying as people claim they are. Look at the road, not at the oncoming car like a deer and you'll be fine
Now of course, that mostly only apply to OEM LED headlights. Those aftermarket bulbs that people love to put on their old corollas are most often a pain in the ass, because the overall design never took that into account
Would you be comfortable, as an artist, if a client asked you for screenshots of the process to prove that you're not using AI? On one hand I see how it could be insulting. On the other, I'm beginning to worry people might start selling AI designs for a quick buck.

in an era of people squeezing out content out of ai tubes i see literally sharing your video project, raw files, notes and anything about your creative process in a github type beat kinda thing as a potential way to let people see βhow the sausage is madeβ
It only recently occurred to me that twitter is horse shit because you get paid for interaction. If you get paid for interaction, youβd just say the most incendiary shit as a full time job, Iβm sure itβs a small to decent living.
Itβs a shit website simply because thereβs incentive to make it shit
Internet user: The industry making this product is Evil
Me: Uh huh. Carry on.
Internet user: Their business practices are horrific and their workers are exploited.
Me: Yes, good analysis, excellent.
Internet user: Which is why people who depend on the product for survival are Bad
Me: Sigh.
I bought Solidworks for makers in the cloud so that I could use it on my linux machine, but I should've picked the desktop version even if it's only available on windows. Sometimes, it will lose connection, and then all unsaved work will be lost. Pain in the ass.

"Video games aren't expensive now because they used to cost $70-$80 in the 90s too." Is such a disingenuous argument. If you're old enough to remember paying $80 for a N64 game, then you're also old enough to remember paying only $50 for PS2, GameCube, and Xbox games.
