A strong SaaS report gets more useful when it separates new sales from expansion and churn. Those three lines help founders see whether growth comes from demand, retention, or pricing.

Anything to grab your attention and your money. Every day web ads and popups get a little bigger, chatbot dings get a little louder, and computers get less usable than they were the day before

Software developer for 40 years. The slop they create today makes my head explode. Slap stuff anywhere without thinking. Limited testing. Difficult to fix errors. Then blame the user.

I've got label making software here - it's got so much clip art, templates, and *fun* features. I'd love to just type in a label and get it. (I mean, why does it need me to login to Google? It's a labelmaker...)

Don't underestimate what they're learning (or think that they are learning). One label may not tell them much, but suppose you label your file folders, or your pantry shelves. There's more information there & if they sell it to a broker who combines it with other data they've scraped about you…

Where is my "Do you agree to our new and improved updated teams of service" that is every time I open it. And saving is disabled until I connect it to their cloud service. D:

I'm not surprised. Look at what they did to television -- it began with noble aspirations too but today it's mostly garbage. Capitalism reduces every beautiful thing to a profit-making vehicle. It's time we evolved past such nonsense.

I find this so funny, because it's just defining capitalism, and that's the biggest problem with capitalism, and yet the majority still just believe it's good because the propaganda is so deeply embedded that they can't wake up.

Even my mental illness is capitalist. I know its ideas are worthless, but it's literally the way my depression manifests. I see how I struggle to do anything with a dollar sign attached to it and hate myself. It's the illness of capitalism, but the diagnosis is labeled depression.

You can also say the same about cancer, which has dramatically & exponentially increased with the infestation of capitalism into farming as well as industrialization & the pollution it spews into air, water & land.

It's out of control. Who's in charge? I thought monopolies weren't suppose to happen? Who's in control of the Cloud???

I am retired now, but I spent 18 years working at Microsoft working on Mac Office. We would spend months on honing a release. Now it seems that stuff is thrown over the wall and it will be 'fixed in an update'. I think things were better when users where not our testers.

Reading about a new Office for Mac release, the one with Philipp Antoni’s icons, was what made me believe a career in UI Design (back when it was called that) was possible even from out of Vienna. 👍 (Now I know better, but still.)

i've been saying this for years now. they laid off their beta testers and instead profit off free labor from autistic children who don't know better yet.

I truly enjoy and appreciate the user-first design in Acrobat that lets me dock the AI button floating in the lower right of the workspace into a slightly smaller AI button floating in the lower right of the workspace. It's like reading Programming As If People Mattered all over again.

The only things I'd change to make it more accurate are I'd put an obnoxious oscillating gradient on the "Ask AI!" button and I'd replace the X in the speech bubble with "Show me how!" and "Remind me later..." buttons lmao

100% My aged Acrobat 8.1 has a fave feature but is tied to an old machine. Been using an alternate on my new machine. Both look like your mock-up on the left: functional. I found a legit 2022 Acrobat (no subscription) to get that one feature on my new PC. UI is just like the one on the right. Blech

i heard a chap the other day say, "our company has put AI on everyone's computer... and the button is in a place where people accidentally click the most"

It's bad. I started coding in the 80s. We've replaced actual programmers, who knew how to write a UI and get every bit of performance out of hardware at the register-level, with "kids with Crayons" who cobble together Franken-programs from other peoples parts and wonder why performance sucks??
