They’re chasing quotas, not criminals! The former head of Chicago’s immigration court, fired by Trump, is finally speaking out. A new lawsuit accuses the administration of unlawfully targeting documented immigrants who were already showing up to court, just so ICE could hit arrest quotas.

Trump on Iran: it’s a “war”

Jacqui Cebrian reposted

This is an insanely reckless move with terrifyingly massive consequences, and it's happening without congressional approval. Stop the needless, endless war.

Ezra Levin ❌👑@ezralevin.bsky.social

An act of war weeks in planning but unauthorized by Congress against a country that Trump's own director of intelligence testified under oath was not close to getting a nuclear weapon.

To every member of Congress tonight: We don’t need 200+ words. We need 3 sentences. 1. Trump’s strike on Iran was unauthorized & unconstitutional 2. Congress must reassert its war powers—immediately 3. I support the War Powers Resolutions in the House and Senate No war with Iran. Full stop.

I serve on the board of the Portland Playhouse and I’ve expected that we’d get hit eventually. Joe Turner's Come and Gone by the great August Wilson is a wonderful piece of American art, but it’s not a surprise why the government would not see it that way.

🚨UPDATE: Rümeysa Öztürk has now suffered three separate asthma attacks while in DHS custody. She has not received her required asthma medications—a violation of her fundamental right to medical care. This is cruelty, it is neglect, and it is a damning moral and legal failure.

This week, my Somerville constituent Rümeysa Öztürk was abducted in broad daylight by DHS officials and sent to Louisiana to be locked in a detention center. She has not been charged with any crime.

I can’t remember where I read this, but it’s important: Why is it that when people think about traveling to the past, they worry about doing something small that will drastically change the present, but no one in the present thinks that doing something small today can drastically change the future?
