I learned a lot in the research for this and I'm proud of the episode we put together. Reactionary cultural framing of childhood and family life can make it hard to talk about trans issues productively w/o unpacking a lot of that first. We try to do that here.

NEW EP: In Solidarity With Trans Children albertaadvantagepod.com/2026/04/16/i...

This is tepid and sucks ass actually. Conceding the framing of the question and suggesting we talk numbers is just saying we’re willing to do anti-immigrant politics as long as it’s done in a polite tone.

Scott Robertson@sarobertson.bsky.social

Naheed Nenshi on the immigration questions: "I am happy to have a conversation on numbers. I am not happy to have a conversation on the dignity of newcomers, and I'm not happy to have people voting on whether other people should have human rights."

Talking about the economic benefit of immigrants is the same as 2020 corporate DEI talking points about how diversity improves the bottom line. It implies if the math changes then white supremacy would be fine.

This is a defensive posture with a narrative controlled by the right. God forbid the NDP assert a positive, pro-immigrant, aggressively anti-racist position.

We should do 10 questions every week, but make them fun ones. Favourite dinosaur, best Burger Baron location, etc.

Left Wexit@iosegun.bsky.social

People say this referendum was a waste of money, but a lot of my broke friends got some work out of it. And not so long ago I worked every election for the money too.

I can say that I am utterly devastated to see the results of the “other nine” questions. The scapegoating of newcomers is about to get a lot worse and that is a loss for all Albertans and Canadians.

Still don't know if Duncan is just being railroaded for being a vocal opponent of EPS or if he did paint the accurate label on the statue of the actual Nazi. Still think the Nazi supporters are the ones in the wrong here.

BREAKING: Duncan Kinney has pled guilty to mischief in relation to the vandalism of the bust of Roman Shukhevych outside the Ukrainian Youth Unity Complex in August 2021.

This is the stupidest day in Alberta history, a record that will be broken by every subsequent day in Alberta history.

Macleans might have done well to listen to Jim... but they did not.

Is a left Wexit possible? We figure that out in this episode.

While the separation question is likely to lose, the other nine ballots portend bad things to come from the UCP, regardless of outcome.

🧵 For 3 years Critical Mass has held monthly rides with 3 goals in mind: 1. Celebrate cycling + other active transport 2. Protest the lack of physical + social infra that allows for safe travel 3. Create a safe environment to cycle by empowering participants to look out for one another.

In a remarkable omission, this article on young people involved in Alberta separatism shouts out the podcast of two young women interviewed—but fails to mention what sort of programming they produce! www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Maybe you should concentrate on building some homes instead of chasing upvotes on reddit, Mr. Mayor.

Jeromy Farkas@jeromyyyc.bsky.social

The article is misleading at best. That's not at all what I said. I said the rules for public hearings prohibit discriminatory arguments based on income. For example, it's not acceptable to argue against a development because "only poor people will live there."

in the timeline where Lukaszuk did not run his petition it is very possible that there is no October 19 referendum. Forever Canadian better prove its worth during the campaign period. if this was just an exercise in raising Lukaszuk's profile then he was running the same grift as Smith!

The Progress Report@theprogressreport.ca

Eye-rolling news out of today's special committee on the Forever Canadian petition: after hearing Lukaszuk argue for the whole meeting that he doesn't actually want a referendum, the UCP majority of the committee has decided that his petition will be the reason we have a referendum. Oct 19.

Calgary cyclist John Ragan told CBC News that he believes bike lanes are safer to use, but in some places they seem unnecessary. “In some cases yes, but in many cases we don’t need them," he said. A quick Google search and there’s a John Ragan in Calgary who works in car sales… hmmm🤔 #yycBike

Kinda think this one is downstream of Mr. Hogan's actions in justifying and lying about police assaults on Palestinian students and their allies two years ago when he was vice president of comms at the UofC.

I am deeply concerned by the hateful threat sent to the Muslim Students’ Association at UofC. Let me be clear: Islamophobia has no place on our campuses or in our communities. Everyone deserves to feel safe where they study, work, and live. Thinking of everyone affected—my office is here to support.

Peoples brains have been so ruined by electoral politics that all the top comments for this article on r/Alberta are just pricks shaming rural Albertans for voting UCP, when: 1) it's O&G companies doing the harm, 2) it's the AER that's failing & 3) The NDP are pushing MORE pipelines! #ABLeg #ABPoli

If you suggest that the Alberta NDP should not be subordinate to the oil and gas industry you get former MLAs in your mentions telling you to give up on the party and vote Green instead.

The ANDP freakout over the Lewis win reminds me of nothing more so than the PC freakout over the ANDP win in 2015, which is kinda funny.
