If the government really cared about more young people having children, it would make it a priority to assure people have affordable housing and healthcare, maybe even UBI. I really believe more people my generation would have kids if they felt it was possible.

Completely agree and similarly have not seen mine since 2012. They decided they would not accept me as I was and that meant I had no obligation to accept them in my life, period

You didn’t have to come out and SAY that you were packing up your ocean-crossing canoe to search across the seas for a new land just to get away from your awful family, but you know that had to have been a FACTOR for a lot of history’s intrepid explorers and settlers

AI slop really is everywhere - in the examples below, in posts about climate solutions and, astonishingly, anti-AI and anti-data-centre content. I have no big point here, it's just depressing

I can say that I am utterly devastated to see the results of the “other nine” questions. The scapegoating of newcomers is about to get a lot worse and that is a loss for all Albertans and Canadians.

In 1934, we added a gender-neutral pronoun for a single third person. ‘Thon’ was short for “that one.” It didn’t catch on.

I'd like to put together a panel on either a) what it means/has meant historically to be British, especially in the context of current mad attacks on who gets to be English, or b) British women's history in 2027: the politics and challenges of. If anyone else likes these themes let me know!

As Canada awaits the Alberta separation referendum results, let’s remember how stupid this all is. Huge public money spent on a Russian & American-fuelled separation movement for an awfully-written and badly managed unbinding referendum on whether to hold a binding referendum that would be illegal.
