This is Cupcake. She is either living her best life or really going through it. Either way, probably best to give her a moment. 14/10 (TT: bundleofbullies)

The Senate is trying to rush through a crypto bill called the CLARITY Act. In its current form it’s BAD– it doesn’t do enough to protect consumers, has no conflict of interest protections, and allows far too much corruption from bad actors like Trump. Call and tell Congress to vote no! 202-224-3121.

Democratic voters prefer politicians who are ready, willing and able to fight. Where incumbents fail that test, voters will look to replace them with politicians who will actually fight. That's it. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

this graduation speech moment is notable, and her amazed shock at having failed to read the room feels instructive. when you're inside the bubble, you think everybody else is. but everybody isn't.

These people claim to be the guardians of civilization, but their beliefs are absolutely barbaric. They are the lowest form of humanity.

Our Dearest Military Members: Every soldier takes the same oath as their commander. They may fire generals for refusing to follow illegal orders but they can’t fire all of you. You have an obligation to say no. Love to each and every one of you.❤️

The lesson from U.S. history, if there is one, is not that progress is impossible. There has been tremendous progress at times! But we must not assume directionality in history. There is no arc, there is no linear progression, no utopian end goal we are somehow destined to reach.

No Right Is Ever Safe – but Progress Is Possible The outrageous assault on birthright citizenship should prompt us to reflect on the fragility of democratic progress - and our own responsibility to defend it. Some thoughts from my new piece:

Forget all the “Protests don’t matter” and “No Kings is just silly” nonsense. Protests matter. Societal resistance has been hardening. It’s a massive problem for the MAGA regime. And “No Kings” is crucial as part of an effort to dispel the idea that “real America” stands behind Trump.

Washington just passed a “millionaire tax,” after Massachusetts passed its own in 2022. New Mexico enacted universal childcare last year. And organizers in Montana and California are advancing a ballot measure that would get corporate money out of politics. We still have power to fix the system.

1/2. He took the greatest military force in history, lost a war to a middle power in a week, begged the world to save him, & demanded the media lie about this & everything else. I try, but at a simple human level I do not see how anyone mistakes this man’s almost supernatural weakness for strength.

Reminder: DHS nominee Markwayne Mullin is one of the most active stock-traders in the Senate — and violated the STOCK Act against insider trading as recently as last August. He currently holds stock in L3Harris, which has millions in contracts with ICE and FEMA. The grift continues.

Humanity is capable of so much more, and so much better, than what these tech clowns want to condemn us to. We must not let them define the future. We owe it to ourselves and to future generations to resist their insatiable desire to dominate all spheres of life. Defend humanity.

jmarcus98.bsky.social reposted

If we let them, these people will destroy everything that makes human civilization worth saving. It’s frightening how much power and influence we have allowed these tech feudalists to accumulate - and it will be one of the twenty-first century’s defining struggles to wrest it back from them.

Remember: There is nothing natural or inevitable about extreme inequality; it’s the result of an economic system that values wealth and power over human dignity and justice. It doesn't have to be this way.

We can’t boycott everything but we can boycott some. Everyone can do something. Don’t give up because you think a small contribution is too small. Millions of small acts to take down this regime add up. Find your way to fight and keep going.

10/ All of this was totally foreseeable. Frankly, it’s why previous presidents weren’t so stupid to start a war like this. Trump has lost control of the war. His best course now is to cut his losses and end it. That’s the only way to prevent an even bigger disaster.

Has anyone pointed out to ICE agents that if they're arresting people solely to collect a bonus, they're not law enforcement officers. They're bounty hunters. I look forward to all of them losing their jobs and being blacklisted from serving in law enforcement.

Sen. Murray: "I'm just sickened by this. To go into this war unprepared, to use outdated data, and to have this horrific thing happen where children were killed in a school sends a horrible message to those that are in a war with us and to our own constituents about what America's values are."

Except that you are NOT powerless. You can attend town halls, call your state representatives, participate in demonstrations, volunteer for any of the hundreds of needs (legal aid, food pantries, supporting a candidate...). The status quo wants you to THINK you are powerless

jmarcus98.bsky.social reposted

It's not exactly true that we're powerless. Gathering with resistance movements (indivisible is a good start if you haven't yet) and taking direct, local action may feel too small, but it does make a difference. It also helps recontextualize our responsibilities, taking some weight off.
