I’ve been scrolling for like 5 minutes now and no one has posted this? #emudhra

“Autotune for ideas” is a beautiful expression.

that basically explains why AI stuff blows it’s like auto-tune for ideas, like yeah you hit the note but you lose the subtlety, the richness, the soul

No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

Every morning my four-year-old and I “race” to see who can finish brushing teeth the fastest. We both have electric toothbrushes with built in two-minute timers, and I always put his toothpaste on first. Every day I wonder if today will be the day he realises. But today, he won again.

I just typed "I woke up in a king sized bed, tick of a clock, stranger to my left" into Google because I wanted to look up a song (looks like it's called 'Trophy Wife' by Zorro, btw), but Google has launched me into some Zork-esque interactive fiction? What is this?

i didnt even look at the new iphone benchmarks until now. What the fuck do you mean single core performance score is MORE THAN DOUBLE my PC. What the fuck do you mean the multicore performance is identical when i have 16 cores. Stop feeding the apple engineers so much cocaine. This is so fucked

Hey Siri, set a timer for fifty minutes! Fifteen minute timer, counting down. Hey Siri, no, set a timer for fifty minutes! Fifteen minute timer, counting down. Ffs, hey Siri, set a fifty minute timer! Fifteen minute timer, counting down. 🙄 Hey Siri, set a forty-nine minute timer.

I get the point, but I think scare quotes are unnecessary, and do we expect fresh developers not to use AI at all? A more positive spin: If you’re a new contributor to a project, pick two or three things that really matter, fix them, and show why you care with a well written PR description.

A word of advice to young developers: Stop spamming open source projects with AI "contributions". Opening dozens of PRs in a matter of hours is just going to piss people off and get you blocked regardless of whether the changes are legitimate or not.

If you and your agent find 100 things, great! Fork the repo, prep your branches and wait. Once your first 3 PRs get merged, you’ll have plenty of candidates for your next 3. Find out where the devs hang out: Discord, BlueSky, Twitter… OSS is a community and we value folks who care.

And don’t forget: we’ve (mostly) all got LLMs too, so why did *you* (and your LLM) make this particular contribution?

Now I suddenly understand so much.

occasionally when writing markdown, headers wouldn't work as headers. typed again, they would. it turns out its because on this laptop opt+3 is #. but opt+space is nbsp. so if i press the space while releasing opt, i end up with "# header", not "# header" 😂

Started work on a PCVR port yesterday for a game I’ve been dreaming of playing in VR. Here’s Metal Gear Solid 2 running on an Apple Vision Pro.

Talking about nominee for Hungary’s next president, Polgár Judit (Judith Citizen) with my wife, I asked her if she’d ever heard of the theory of nominative determinism. She replied “no, but I can guess from the name”. Exactly, Mrs Innes, exactly.

It feels novel because most ‘realtime databases’ ask you to build an app around their hosted backend. Jazz makes each participant feel like it has a real local database, then turns synchronization into the substrate.”

It was inevitable, wasn't it🙄 Of course the Telegraph would run with something like this👇 So let's remove some of the rose-tinted spectacles and also look at some of that data comparing 1976 with modern heat waves Because the 1976 nostalgia porn is wearing a bit thin at this stage 🧵1/23

Let me get this strait (ahem)… 20% payable to the US to travel through the Strait of Hormuz which is *checks* 10 000 km away? What the…? Is there precedent for something like this?

I am reminded that yes, there is, in fact, from a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away, where the Trade Federation and Naboo had a bit of a to do over effectively the same thing.

For a match billed as a clash of the titans between Kane and Haarland, they seem to be supporting characters rather than the main event so far…

Pet peeve: someone parking badly so they overflow into the next space, so then I have to overflow into the next space and then the original overflower drives off and now I look like the inconsiderate wanker. Fully appreciate that the person I had to avoid may well not have been the original sinner.

Dad tip: Skechers slip-ins. Available in fuck-are-you-clown sizes, comfortable as you like, and you don’t have to put the baby down to put them on. Can’t believe I had to have a second baby to make this discovery. #dadsky

For £200, you can watch Muse at the O2, from the not-great-not-terrible seats at the side of the stage, for two hours... or you can buy an actual brand new electric guitar and have enough left for a Twix. CONCERT TICKETS SHOULD NOT COST MORE THAN ELECTRIC GUITARS! WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS GOING ON?
