Fraser Nelson commendably points out to the Right that their narrative of 'lawless Britain on the verge of civil war' is the inverse of the truth. And the big rise in immigration has coincided with a big drop in crime. frasernelson.substack.com/p/lawless-br...

frasernelson.substack.com“Lawless Britain”: an updateThis morning’s figures show a scarcely-believable trend: crime down 78pc from its peak and British streets the safest for decades

What an immensely frustrating experience getting Bayeux Tapestry tickets Was logged on, via several machines, from the time they were released this morning and the nearest I'm to the front of the queue - after over 2 and a half hours - is 66531 It's not going to happen is it?

Sorry this is twaddle I live in zone 4 It takes me under 20 minutes to get to London Victoria I can be at Tate Modern, Borough Market of the City in 25 In little more than 40 minutes I can be in King’s X or the countryside I used to live zone 2 & couldn’t get to any of those places so quickly

Zelensky, despite everything, remains a class act Trump remains an idiotic toddler

European News@eunews.social

Asked by Sky News at the EU summit in Brussels whether he is being made a scapegoat for Trump's problems at home, Zelensky stood silent at the podium for about ten seconds, then said: "This is my answer. Thank you so much." Then he left.

On Sally Rooney - we are not an overly political shop but books have always been about freedom of thought and expression, and we support that. We are able to continue to stock Sally’s books, and we will continue to sell them. Jo and Chris

Thought it would be fun to watch some of the Rugby League World Cup But I've just discovered it's on a channel called Premier Sports, which costs a minimum of £12.99 a month Rugby League is making itself irrelevant by being so hard to watch Just stupid

It’s such bad luck these things keep happening to Reform

Sunder Katwala (sundersays)@sundersays.bsky.social

Another Reform councillor in South London called for the King to be decapitated for being a secret Muslim. Reform say they are taking disciplinary action against a small number of councillors who do not share their values. I believe both would be welcome in Restore www.itv.com/news/2026-10...

This piece bothers me www.thetimes.com/life-style/c... It’s Polly Vernon writing about when she worked in a bar in London It includes this: ‘Politicians drank there — I once made Tony Benn a G&T — as did EastEnders stars and footballers’ I can’t imagine Benn in such a bar & he didn’t drink booze

This is such sad news We stayed in a flat round the corne from the Marche Couvert des Enfants Rouges a few years ago and it was just lovely Great stalls, fantastic food Must have been terrfying for the nearby residents I do hope something can be reborn www.rte.ie/news/world/2...

I am angry tonight. Because tonight ICE shot a New Yorker. They shot a New Yorker while his five year old child was in the car. ICE makes this city less safe. We want them out. Now.

What these guys did was bigger than Brexit. They showed how you could produce work of an academic quality and distribute it through the media, to improve the standard of national debate. I wish more organisations would learn from what was accomplished here.

An announcement. There will be plenty of time to reflect on what we've achieved, and on the fantastic colleagues who have helped us achieve it. But for now, sad news ukandeu.ac.uk/announcement... 1/2

Dear tv and radio producers. Thankyou for the invitation. But, no, I do not want to appear on your show to defend the idea that I am English, after 50 years of living and working here, because the increasingly feral right want to turn this into a "debate" and you cannot see how you're being played

Robert Jenrick of Reform on why he wants a debate about who is not ethnically English, not just a debate about cultural integration. But it is deeply illogical to claim insisting that Rishi Sunak + Marcus Rashford can't be English is driven by a concern about too little integration!

I can't remember: when Thatcher wrote The Right Approach in 1976, did she also do this?

NEW: Kemi Badenoch’s flagship party conference policy document, The Right Way, overestimated the cost of net zero by nearly £500bn, seemingly after someone accidentally double-counted figures on a spreadsheet. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Many will feel that, like Corbyn before him, Polanski showed a failure of courage to stand up to antisemitic entryists, preferring their adulation instead Doubt Polanski will realise his time as Green leader is now basically over He’ll plough on but successor will have a big job detoxifying party

what does "netflix-style vision for iplayer" even mean? they already do the same thing as netflix's core product. it is a netflix-style service.

I think the BBC should close its television news channel to save money It’s so poor now anyway Fund proper journalism, make decent news programmes, maintain Radio 4 Rolling news is awful too

@mrkennycampbell.bsky.social how did I miss you hosting a podcast? Jolly good fun
