I, too, think Toronto's left should be magnanimous to the right. And by that I mean rapid densification of every wealthy SFH neighbourhood within 15 minutes of rapid transit which voted for Bradford 🙂‍↕️

second shot from bradford's hq is gold

Amazing work throughout this election by photographers at @thelocal.to led by @chloeellingson.bsky.social. These contrasting images from last night are really something. Nic Hotchkiss at the Chow party. Laura Proctor at Bradford HQ. thelocal.to/olivia-chow-...

Forager is an idle game where you build factories and farms on a set of islands. I fell into a fugue state playing it one weekend and ended up paving over the islands into one smooth area for my hyper-efficient, number-go-up factories. Still appalled at myself.

imagine the crash out on social media if tate and bradford lose. if you can't vote for someone, vote in such a way that makes tobi lutke cry big fat billionaire tears in his wychwood park manse

People don’t understand why I keep noting that BlueSky is not a bubble, it is a counterpublic. It serves its own organizational function: you can see in realtime in January 2025, on multiple types of social media, shouting that an executive order is instruction to an agency. This one stuck.

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

Re: YCSE/Holmes: In retrospect it is darkly funny that the same people who watch TikToks all day and parrot whatever bullshit people confidently state directly into the camera would take up the Holmes innocence crusade because she looked directly into the camera and stated a bunch of bullshit

Combatting housing discrimination is one of the stronger arguments for social housing imo.

siobhan mcdonough@siobhan-m.bsky.social

housing discrimination is insidious and the cases are some of the most difficult to prove because most of them are not stupid enough to tell you in writing that they’re doing it

Assuming SHOP is incorporated provincially, this stuff is within reach of the legislature and it's even money some future government takes a whack at it

i keep thinking there's a bottom to the shopify ceo's depravity but keeps falling further and further. imagine being a queer shopify employees seeing your boss tweet such wretched homophobia to the jackals on social media.

lmfao abc went for two separate university-rosedale candidates in terri hawkes and karina lemke!!! hawkes is going for "a doctorate in Gender Feminist and Women's Studies" per wikipedia. how's it feel to be endorsed next to daniel tate?

Damien Moule@damienmoule.bsky.social

I am on the record as shadow party supporter and actual political party wanter but endorsing Tate is a red line for me and now I want this group to collapse into dust as soon as possible. abctoronto.org/2026/10/19/a...

Increasingly think the sign war is a weak signal for support, especially because renters -- who make up 48% of Torontonians in the 2021 census and i would bet are higher in 2026 -- can't put up their own signs in buildings generally.

the story of alberta politics, much like ontario politics, is rural and smaller cities forcing their hitler particles on the cities.

Blake Shaffer 🇨🇦@blakeshaffer.bsky.social

As the count continues, we are getting a clearer picture of the results from Monday's AB referendum: 1. Separation was trounced 2. No real mandate on the heavily pushed Q1-9 Big picture: the Urban-Rural divide Cgy+Edm voted No on all questions Rest of Alberta (combined) voted Yes

This is a great example of why the various "design guidelines" mandating volume articulation and changes of material are architecturally illiterate. This is a great building, and it's essentially a big box with a single well-thought architectural feature making most of the job.

Canada can end homelessness. Even cities in the U.S. are showing it can be done. Treating housing as the first intervention in health care makes moral and economic sense, by Dr. Andrew Boozary www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/arti... via @theglobeandmail.com #HousingFirst

In my feelings about this. Edmonton's Bioware was an inspiration for this kid from northern AB and we always stayed at the hotel where Bioware was HQed when in Edmonton. Great artists ruined by even greater mismanagement. The people who suffer are the ones who worked long hours to bring joy to ppl

alyssa mercante@alyssamerc.bsky.social

Consolidation is killing our industry. The Gamergaters who make money off the rage game will have you think this is a victory. This is purely a loss. A loss of work and art and fun and expression in a space that desperately needs it. Massive fucking bummer.

you pull 100-hour workweeks. you sacrifice family time, your health to make something that entertains and makes someone feel joy. you get insulted online by a bunch of feral losers. you get pushed around by execs flitting from popular idea to popular idea. you get laid off at the end of it.

Bradford up to a 1 in 3 shot of winning after the latest polls. I think Chow's team should stop being in denial on Twitter and take some big swings. If you have a horse in this race, sign up to volunteer on election day.
