Sounds mad but, at this point I actually hope its corrupt news directors. Because this level of incompetence is in fact more worrying from the national broadcaster.

Alex Andreou@sturdyalex.bsky.social

This went on for the rest of the full hour, at which point the BBC apologised for having to go to the weather and urged viewers to follow continuing live coverage on iPlayer. Forty-one minutes of unfiltered, unchallenged propaganda by a far right party with 8 MPs, now third in the polls. Discuss.

Clickbait title, let's see how many pass the 'read it before post' challenge. โ€œfor the vast majority of young people with autism, ADHD, anxiety or depression, the starting point has to be what could you do, what would you like to do, and how can the state help them do it.โ€

This wont be a problem here though. So we shouldn't look at the extreme far right content constantly being pushed on Facebook and Instagram into people's feeds. This is an isolated incident in a non EU nation so we can carry on as is.

Meaningful for every ally the US has, and the industry collaboration we have. Sadly, Trump isn't an aberration, there is an entire party behind him. Pretending the Democrats will weaken the presidency's power to do this shit is a fantasy.

Doing this would carry huge costs as well. Can't deny that either. I know I'm a broken record but Labour has got to get real on defence. The only way to do that is through increased taxation to cover the required borrowing costs. Everyone pays more, the rich pay the most.

I think the fact that the Putin Puppet Parties are all openly saying the exact same thing about Ukraine's support shows how bleak Russia's war is going. They cant afford subtlety anymore, so they're lining up the sock puppets. Europe should seize the opportunity and impose a total embargoe.

I have never seen coverage of a live trial, one involving allegations of multiple sex attacks on multiple women, framed in a more distasteful way. It's not 'Fame under fire' it's a rape trial. And it involves actual women. And this from the *checks notes* BBC

Labour's abdication of our moral responsibility to the LGBT community, through the refusal to address trans discrimination, drove people to this charleton. Some phenomenal councillors and community activists who right now we could be working with stuck in limbo. When they should be in Labour.

I maintain that had Europe done a total embargo on trade with Russia on day 1, regardless of the Trump Administration. Ukraine would have won this war by now. Our continued inability to accept the short term economic hit of this action, is why Putin can afford to continue the war.

Trump is a Russian asset, knowingly or unkowingly doesn't matter. European collective security is undermined time and again by the weakest generation of political leaders since the 30s, unable to communicate to the public why short term harm can do long term good.

Underrated aspects of the Labour campaign in HsP: 1)The number of completely new volunteers we had out across the campaign. 2) The resonance on the door of the local messaging. Hard to overstate how much the past couple of months has reinvigorateed the party.

Dangerous foreshadowing of what a Reform government would act like. Straight out of the Trump playbook.

Not to be that guy, but literally they have online and proxy votes from delegates across the entire party and country. This is a representative view. A literal majority view from a majority of delegates.

Peter Walker@peterwalker99.bsky.social

I'm told by a delegate is has passed - 1,022 votes for the motion, 813 against. While the Greens love their direct democracy model, it does mean policy risks being set by the small minority who can be arsed to (and can afford to) go to conference.

An intentionally vague, non committal statement, designed as a reference tool to shut down press questions; is not a condemnation of an inherently racist motion that passed with a clear majoirty while the entire parliamentary green party sat and watched.

Carla Denyer@carladenyer.bsky.social

The โ€˜Zionism is Racismโ€™ motion has passed at Green Party conference. While there are many parts of the motion I can agree with, there are some that I could not, so I did not vote for it. Here is a joint statement from the Green Party leadership team and all of us Green MPs:

With the added context of the motion, they are now calling for the establishment of a single Palestinian state in the levant, and the dissolution of the state of Isreal. This is an extremist position outside the bounds of international law. It should be condemned as such.

I'm astonished by the margins, but not by the support: People are civic minded and practical. It turns out if you explain your reasoning for something, and are trusted to deliver that something, they are willing to support you.

Sorry, did bluesky come up with a plan to fix social care last night? Why is everyone acting shocked Burnham has said the social care fix will take time. Casey report due summer 2027. Why is the idea of delivering changes after the next general election anything other than realistic?

I dont think people are appreciating the administrative cost of establishing a uniform set of standards, costings and delivery mechanisms would take. We've got a PM who not only cares about this, but is actually across the detail and people are shocked hes not saying it will be quick?

There's nothing to stop all parties agreeing to the plans between now and the election, making it becoming a non contested promise in all party's manifestos. Irl it will probably produce a plan all parties agree on (Except Reform, jury out on Tories) with disagreements in how to fund it.

Anna Clarke@annaclarke.bsky.social

We badly need a better system of social care. But how can Burnham possibly hope to build cross-party consensus if he's intending to put it on the ballot paper for the next election? www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cj...

Josh Constable ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ reposted

I do find this country mad. Anyone can see that social care is in a state of devastating crisis in this country and that it is the key source of the NHS crisis as well. There is no feasible way to solve it without everyone contributing. Burnham is honest about that and is already getting pelters.

Itโ€™s wild that we have an organisation tasked with saving lives and a movement whose members try to commit murder, and large sections of the press treat the question of which one is good and which one is bad as, at best, debatable.

Today, the government has announced it is bringing in statutory bereavement leave for pre-24 week pregnancy loss from next April. This will make a huge difference to women and their partners who experience the pain of losing a pregnancy - and finally recognise it as the bereavement that it is.

My major concern here isn't actually the donations itself. Its what they will be able to accomplish on an unregulated and, fankly, dangerous social media landscape. Anyone with experience running political ads knows how big a reach a fraction of this could get.

Astounding story. Reform receives a *second* ยฃ36m donation from a crypto billionaire in 48 hours. Christopher Harborne- the ยฃ5m benefactor- has matched Ben Delo's money pound for pound. ยฃ72m in total. Approaching US politics sort of money. www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/202...

The misinformation people are already subject to. The total lack of moderation by META. The rise of the far right in the modern world is entirely the responsibility of social media. Its given a place for reprehensible views, society had agreed were unacceptable 10 yrs ago to spread and entrench.

It speaks volumes to Emily's commitement to the Labour party, and her own character, that one of her first concerns with this was the impact it would have on everyone else, not herself. Despite trying for months to get this resolved privately, there's been no meaningful engagement.

Emily's record in the party, her eagerness to get involved and support CLPs across the region are why she will be a great NPF rep for all of us. My thanks again to every CLP that nominated us. And my apologies to Emily and every trans member being failed by our party. You all deserve better.

We must ackowledge the deep floors in the current guidance, and the failures of our gov to update legislation. Until parliament corrects these floors, there is nothing, absolutely nothing; that says we cannot re-adopt the inclusive party culture our members want us to have.

The party is out of step with our members and affiliates with this narrow interpritation of the equality act. I'm proud that my Union demands better. I'm proud of us in Mainstream for demanding better. Should the situation not change, then members must mobalise to change the rules ourselves.

It is long beyond time to do something about this toxic and ungoverned social media culture. Under-16s are not the problem - the algorithmic rewarding of grift and extremism is poisoning our societies. Let's call it clicktremism.
