Again: Why does Musk have operational control over any *military grade* version of anything. That’s not how DOD contracts work.

I've been teaching ethics and moral philosophy for 30 years. I agree with this 💯

One good thing has come out of the rise of MAGA fascism: complete moral clarity. It's obvious what's the right thing to do, and it's to vote against all Republicans.

Nobody this cowardly, craven, and self-serving should control a company with the financial resources of a medium-sized country. We need to break these companies apart. "Too big to fail" needs to be replaced with "too big to exist."

BAIER: The president says 'SI.' Are you into SI or AI? BEZOS: I do like SI, because 'artificial' is not a very flattering thing. Like, nobody wants an artificial sweetener, artificial flavoring.

Our system of governance derives its legitimacy from the consent of the governed. When public servants use propaganda to manipulate the people they are supposed to serve in order to MANUFACTURE that consent, our SERVANTS soon become our MASTERS. It’s one reason why the VOA can’t broadcast in the US.

if Trump truly isn't planning to illegally stay in office past 2029, what explains the US government paying for these Trump campaign ads to run on TV? they're just wasting taxpayer dollars to soothe his ego?

This piece reinforces a couple of thoughts I’ve been mulling over: 1. “Thou shalt not bear false witness” is far more important than our society values it 2. We are committing untold acts of friendly fire by not being careful when taking our verbal shots at people, wounding those whom we’d protect

Ossoff: "We are witnessing people drunk with power who are utterly reckless, utterly corrupt, and obviously believe that they live with impunity. They believe they're untouchable. They believe they're invincible. Let's prove them wrong."

What happened to American journalism that the president can float a blatantly illegal bribery scheme to win the midterms and American news outlets report this as "Trump makes an extraordinary offer of $5,000 payments if GOP win midterms?"

ProPublica spoke to dozens of people who had lived in homeless encampments when cities cleared them out in “sweeps.” We distributed notecards so people could tell us about the toll in their own words. ➡️ This is what they wrote:

This METR OpenAI report is a bombshell. I'm going to summarize for a non-technical audience. OpenAI is constantly testing models, thousands and thousands at a time.

If we are going to have charter schools lets at least make them useful and mandate that all children who are unvaccinated for reasons not having to do with being medically fragile have to use them and that the schools have to enrol them

Imagine how much better the world would be if the media had given as much attention to the fact that the President likely raped children and is brazenly corrupt as it did to a Cambridge professor who possibly plagiarized. Our media is broken, and the people who broke it did so intentionally.

This cruelty has no need but cruelty. Haiti remains deeply dangerous; a country in the throes of anarchy. Hundreds of thousands of people are SAFE. They are safe. They are safe here and the nation has decided to make them unsafe. We are embarking on a tragedy and we cannot look away. We cannot.

Yael Schacher@yaelschacher.bsky.social

So many immigrants I've interviewed break down about this. "Monsanto Maler was one of several Haitian immigrants who traveled from Springfield for a check in...after an ankle monitor was attached to him, Maler was seen collapsing to the ground and crying." www.springfieldnewssun.com/local/hundre...

The party that just got caught weaponizing the justice system and lying about the reflecting pool wants you to believe that a man who saved millions of lives and devoted his life to saving others is a criminal

I'm assuming that Bernie Moreno's silence regarding Max Miller is an indication that Miller has something on Moreno that could end the senator's career. It's either that or he hates his daughter.

Provided the forces of fascism are defeated, I fully expect Ossoff to be president one day.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Ossoff: "Here's what's going to happen tonight: the world's most famous sore loser will deliver a prime-time presidential sour grapes address to pursue his 6-year-old grievances about the 2020 election, while his war in the Middle East spirals out of control & the cost of living continues to rise.."

CNN needs to fire Scott Jennings. He told an OUTRAGEOUS lie to manufacture a narrative for his political team. That’s insane. He needs to be off the airwaves. Like NOW!

*Suspending campaign operations is not the same as withdrawing from the race, which is required by Monday under Maine law for the party to name a replacement.

This point needs to be made over and again: The main purpose of wealth taxes should not be to raise revenue. That's a small and secondary benefit. The main purpose should be to *reduce the fortunes of the ultrarich*. Why? Because those fortunes present a massive threat to democracy and public life.

It's kind of cool that the Great American Fair went with a theme of the sparsely populated, largely vacant vistas of America's prairies. Isolation and solitude are underappreciated - it's good to see them celebrated. That is the theme, right?

May they meet with success.

Fuck Sony - The PS5 will be the last console I own from them. As long as there is a company supporting physical media, that is what I will support.

No more physical PlayStation game discs after January 2028. You will never own more than a temporary license for your favourite media on PS6 and beyond.

Just 10 people have already poured $617 MILLION into this year’s midterm elections. In the entire 2008 presidential cycle, the last election before Citizens United, total billionaire spending was $16 million. This is not sustainable. We need to get Big Money out of our democracy.

Since it no longer reflects, just call it the distraction pool as it distracts attention from Trump's ill-conceived war of choice w/ Iran, his long association with Epstein and the refusal to release all the Epstein files, and his corruption in office and the use of that office for self-dealing.
