At work I call everyone "diva". Yesterday, I messed up saying it and accidentally called my straight male coworker "Dave". So it's now "Dave" for the straight men, "diva" for everyone else.

A definite sign of ageing is that you cannot impress me with "over 20 years" anymore. Am I expected to think this sauce is ancient, because it's as old as Nelly Furtado's Maneater?

If I had to choose between the graphic design aesthetics Corporate Memphis and Steamboat Willie, I think I’d rather go for Corporate Memphis.

The ads in Reddit comments are disorienting. One minute you’ll be reading about human rights atrocities and the reactions to them when all of a sudden you’ll be hit with a “have you considered matching your shower doors to your faucet?”

I’m at the big black sphere, I’m at the large red bell, I’m at the combination big black sphere and large red bell.

Friendly reminder that Duolingo was initially concieved to trick people into translating articles for free, which they later used as training data for MTL algorithms. Duolingo's primary purpose has NEVER been about teaching you a language, even from the start! slate.com/technology/2...

It really irks me when people share their 300, 600, 1000 day Duolingo streaks but still don't know how to use Japanese. Here's an explanation for why apps like Duolingo don't work for learning to any fluency. jtalkonline.com/why-apps-lik...

Busy day yesterday but we opened the new exhibit, At the Knees of our Ancestors, the story of Black Canadians and the slave trade in Canada. It was a busy few months and an even busier lasy two weeks and after celebrating with the team, it’s recovery time! More on the exhibit soon.

Couldn’t decide on whether to write: “new drag name just dropped” or “how to describe my relationship if I get with a Dutchman” so I’m just going to do both.

Folks idk about this one

There's this user on the Winnipeg subreddit who recognizes notable Winnipeggers on Fridays, and god I wish they could feature more people of colour. There was like, maybe, one? Maybe two? Out of 50+?

I haven't heard about one of the guys who runs Basecamp being terrible in a hot minute but it looks like his "haha we made a racist list as a joke its not that srs" is even more terrible and we should have seen that coming

Some accounts on Bluesky are straight up just a person trying to convince themselves that their use of gen AI is good and not ethically ambiguous.

28 years ago today, Google was launched. This 1999 ad promised a pure search engine, no news, no ads, no distractions, no portal litter. Things have changed...
