Blue Cross had refused to pay thousands of claims for the center’s patients, but on several occasions executives at the insurance company had signed special one-time deals with the center to pay for their wives’ cancer treatment. By @tchristianmiller.bsky.social

The SAVE Act is a basically unprecedented assault on the right to vote. Republicans are pushing it because they want to make Trump's conspiracy theories about "stolen" elections the law of the land and potentially disenfranchise millions in the process. Supporting it is utterly disqualifying.

Congressman Jared Golden@golden.house.gov

🧵 There are a lot of misleading claims out there about the SAVE Act. Let me set the record straight: I voted for the SAVE Act for the simple reason that American elections are for Americans. Requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote is common sense.

The agreement also includes a section titled “scope of work” that details how DOGE will operate with the DOL. Together, these aspects of the agreement give the clearest look yet at how DOGE's relationships with government agencies may be structured.

Maybe everyone can see it now, but the world's richest people have tanked it all to restock assets and get liquid after years of illegally playing with funny money. They used "the wokeness" as a cudgel and it worked. The next Disney princess WILL be white, as we all eat beans under the highway.

Wow. Rep. Jake Auchincloss minces no words about Signalgate on Piers Morgan: “Pete Hegseth is lying to the American people, lying to Congress, lying to the military.” “It’s incompetence incarnate…It’s embarrassing & it’s dangerous.” This is how it’s done.

"Normally, we treat each bullet point as a separate story. But they are all connected. We are witnessing an extraordinarily broad chilling effect in American society." Look at the length of these lists - this effort to intimidate and silence opposition is a key part of Trump II's authoritarianism.

New, from me: you were told that the threats to free speech came from wokeness. Some compared it to Maoist China. Now we are witnessing government power being used to silence dissent and censor ideas. Now we know what real society-wide chilling effects look like. 🧵 open.substack.com/pub/donmoyni...

It is almost impossible to explain the sheer insanity of Elon Musk apparently having the capability to email the entire federal government evidently without getting approval from anyone—and, apparently, against the wishes of most Cabinet departments.

It’s notable that Trump cabinet secretaries and agency heads, for the most part, are acting more interested in preserving their own prerogatives against Musk’s illegal intrusions than Republican members of Congress are.

Seeing reports that the FCC plans to take a vague and ineffective step on Section 230 to try to control speech online. So, I thought I'd offer some thoughts on why this Administration's war against the First Amendment and Americans' free speech rights is going nowhere. 🧵 1/??
