Live from Trump's "brain"

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "You know, the first question -- they have a lion, a snake, a giraffe, and a bear. And they say 'which is the snake?' ... by the time you get to number five a lot of people are left out on the road ... I get no credit for it."

Yep. No excuse for lines in California. Many vote centers and drop boxes available. Dropped mine in a drop box at the library and picked up a new book to read.

The administration can easily muster resources to make Election Day a horrible mess, if it decides to go down that route. It’s much more difficult for it to do that for the entire early voting period. If your state offers it, vote as soon as you can.

Trump’s weakness after his defeat in the Iran War is evident in how the Iranians feel comfortable ramping up their demands. Today an IRGC spokesperson said the US “must admit defeat” and withdraw from the region.

Lemme explain what bilateral trade deficits are, so that you can better understand -- and perhaps be infuriated by -- the intellectual error that's transforming our economy. #TeachEcon

Susan Collins getting chummy with the architect of Trump's Iran war, which is costing taxpayers $1 billion a day while our hospitals shutter and our grocery prices explode.

This. Every day. Plus, currently, republicans control the White House, both chambers of Congress, and the Supreme Court. Why are they complaining about elections?

Here's something I saw here on Bluesky that I wish Democrats would say every day: "Trump was elected while Obama was president Trump was elected when Biden was president Trump lost the election while he was president But the democrats are cheating? How?"

Absolutely. Abso-fuckin-lutely. You go to prison and you go to prison and you go to prison.

it’s hard to explain how much shit like this has radicalized people. like i’m a white middle-aged broad who’s always been liberal but i’ve gone full-on “abolish ICE/reform scotus/the next dem candidate must commit to mass prosecutions” and you will not sway me from that position.

It’s worth mentioning in every news story that this deal is substantially worse for the US, and far more lucrative for Iran, than the Obama nuclear deal Trump blew up almost a decade ago.

I had the good fortune to make a preview visit to the Obama Presidential Center today. I can’t share photos, but I thought I would share some impressions. Disclosure: I’ve lived near the center for decades, I worked with Michelle Obama before Barack became president, and I’m an architecture buff. 1/

It is hard to capture what a sweeping strategic defeat the war in Iran has been for the United States. I’m going to thread here some of the posts today that try to capture those effects. Here’s the first:

$2 million per ship — to cross a Strait that was free six weeks ago. @nytimes.com www.nytimes.com/2026/04/06/w...

Well, we could if we weren’t spending $400m on a ballroom, billions a day on a war of choice, and $75b+ on immigration cruelty, among other waste, fraud, and abuse. Not funding daycare, Medicare, and Medicaid is your choice.

FactPost@factpostnews.bsky.social

Trump: We can't take care of daycare. We're a big country. We're fighting wars. It's not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, Medicare, all these things.

Good afternoon. Speaker Johnson was sent a bill to fund TSA, the Coast Guard and FEMA that passed the Senate 100-0. If he had simply called it for a vote it would passed easily. But he chose chaos. Because that’s what Trump wants. Only Johnson can clean up this mess.

As a crim def atty I represented a gangster kid. He had to spend time in jail, so I got him Lonesome Dove and told him to keep himself busy. A few weeks later in court he learned his case would be continued again. He was disappointed, but said, “can you at least get me Streets of Laredo?” ❤️

Tapper seems to mean: “I will construe your vote against funding an illegal war as you voting against the troops.”

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

TAPPER: You know that if you vote against an additional $50 billion of funding for operations in Iran, that vote will be cast as you voting against the troops. CHRIS MURPHY: Come on. The American people do not want this war. If you support the troops, you should be voting against this war.

I hope Iranians across America feel safe here. Our country should be a place where people from anywhere feel safe and that they belong.

Additionally, I want to speak directly to Iranian New Yorkers: you are part of the fabric of this city — you are our neighbors, small business owners, students, artists, workers, and community leaders. You will be safe here.

I really appreciate this TikToker with Tourette syndrome, Shay, for taking the time to educate so many of us (including me) about her disability and coprolalia in light of what happened at the BAFTAs with John Davidson when Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo were on stage. I learned a lot.

How much is EVERYONE’s insurance going up because we all have to pay for this poor kid’s treatment? I would hate my parents if they did this to me - unnecessary suffering.

This is the way. You want to move here? Move here. You want to work here? Work here. Just register and get a social security number. Why the citizenship test? Does knowing how many amendments there are to the constitution make one a better citizen?

Greg Pak@gregpak.net

The more of these fascist atrocities I see, the more I become an immigration maximalist. Let everyone in, give everyone work permits/green cards. Make it possible to get citizenship within a few months. Make it as easy as getting a driver's license.

@padilla.senate.gov @schiff.senate.gov No, we do not want reform. Democrats want ICE abolished. Schumer is out of touch and should be replaced as minority leader.

Democrats want commonsense reform for ICE: End the roving patrols and racial profiling. Take accountability and abide by the same rules as local police. Masks need to come off, body cameras need to stay on—no secret police in the United States of America.

No, no, no. ABOLISH ICE. You can’t reform an agency that is rotten to the core.

TRUMP TODAY: There was an election in Texas? What? TRUMP YESTERDAY:

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Q: In Texas, a Democrat won a special election in an area you won by 17 points. Your reaction? TRUMP: I don't know. I didn't hear about it. Somebody ran -- where? Q: In Texas TRUMP: I'm not involved. You mean I won by 17, and this person lost? Things like that happen. I'm not on the ballot
