Can a nation organized and governed such as ours endure? A whole world looks to see what we will do. We cannot fail their trust. We cannot fail to try.

I’m not German. Nobody in my family that I know of is German. But I remember watching and being so happy for the Germans because they got to see their families again, their country was whole again. That moment had a huge impact on a black kid in America.

When I was a kid the Berlin Wall was up. I just assumed that it would be there forever. When I was born it had been up 16 years. It would just always be there, right? And then the year I turned 12 my Mom and I watched it come down and Germany became whole again.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

RFK talks about autistic and Arabic people the exact same way. He assumes they are not capable of ordinary or extraordinary achievements because of who they are. He considers them sub-human because they are not like him. This makes it plain that his is a white supremacist eugenicist project.

One of the problems with Jurassic Park (the movie) is it’s too much of a thin resetting of Westworld (the movie) rather than leaning more in to Jurassic Park (the book). Ironically, one of the improvements that Westworld (the series) makes is it also pulls inspiration from Jurassic Park (the book).

Michael Bazemore@deepwatermike.bsky.social

I remember watching "Westworld" a year or so after seeing "Jurassic Park" and thinking, "Wow. Crichton really ripped this off. Then seeing at the end that Michael Crichton was also responsible for "Westworld."

First, he’s breaking the damn law campaigning. Second, he’s a revolting gutter racist.

i like that the big divide on this post is whether people read it, correctly, as "*run explicitly* on banning online gambling" or whether they ignored the modifying verb and adverb and read it as "i don't think anyone should ban online gambling"

jamelle@jamellebouie.net

i don't think anyone should run explicitly on banning online gambling but i do think that a democratic-led government should just quietly take steps to undermine the industry and create an inhospitable regulatory environment

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.
