Go see Wildwood. Seriously, don’t wait—go see Wildwood. What a piece of art. The love for the manual craft, for story that doesn’t hold back, for filmmaking that is not here to answer to stockholders, it weaves all through it. Incredible stuff.
People are sharing all sorts of stories of Bauza on the picket lines fighting for artists and standing up for the craft of animation but I just keep thinking about the time he went to Tara Strong’s birthday and stopped by 6Point on the way home with a tray of cakepops for the artists working late
While the Avatar universe has never been a strange to morally gray characters, Seven Havens have been giving us some of the most complicated and character-rich writing we've seen from the series.
I wish they better balanced it with the worldbuilding, but I'm really enjoying this series.
Wildwood opening is currently at 11 mill, kinda as expected.
Yes it deserved better, so did Forgotten Island and every independent animation ever.
I remind people that 2 weekend holds are also really important.
I rarely like to comment publicly on internet drama, as I frankly do *not* care to involve myself and most of it is pointless shit that often should not even be public, but I must cop to the slightest bit of schadenfreude over the h3h3 situation.
every once in a while I'll rewatch these Castlevania Trevor-Punching-Dracula edits, and the GameCube one takes me out EVERY time I rewatch it 🙌

I am still reeling from this.
I was utterly lost in its visual splendor. Its story is dark, heartbreaking, and perfectly told with utterly unbelievable animation and a stellar cast.
Cary Mulligan gives one of the best vocal performances I've ever heard.
The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot
A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead:

LAIKA’s ‘Wildwood’ is tracking a $15-20M domestic box office debut after a skyrocket of pre-sale tickets.
This will potentially make LAIKA’s biggest opening weekend ever.

One of the really fascinating things about Charlie Kirk is that his own people’s response to his death was so nakedly opportunistic that it’s like oh, ok, this guy is fair game for literally anything, he’s an object, and now his soul is trapped inside Grok for eternity.
This movie being a flop is such a genuine disappointment.
It was gorgeous, deeply heartfelt, and creative as hell.
And yet, SO MANY OF MY FRIENDS HAVEN'T SEEN IT??
I desperately want to be wrong, but every day I have a deepensing anxiety that these midterms are going to be a flashpoint in American history.
Trump and his ilk aren't going to let the Democrats take control without trying – and possibly succeeding – to subvert our democracy.
Y'know? I think gamers are more progressive in general from personal experience, but have an over represented cohort of bigoted and hateful assholes because the industry over the past decade has enjoyed having people who'll act as industry attack dogs it weaponizes against employees and critics...
I can happily say I am *so* excited for more of Avatar: Seven Havens, as someone who was actually skeptical about it beforehand.
It's got a handful of issues, but the actual writing has me hooked, and I've quickly latched onto Pavi and Neesha.
