Many other parts of the media are regulated during elections, as are campaigners, candidates and agents. Social media shouldn’t get a free pass to influence and undermine the democratic process. Reasonable guardrails are long overdue. (1/2)

Social media platforms should face election rules like broadcasters to help "protect democracy", Lucy Powell has claimed.

The Government is funding 1,000 new community renewable projects, putting solar on schools, community centres, and other public buildings. That means lower bills, local power, and stronger communities. Vote Labour & Co-operative 7 May.

When Angela Rayner underpaid £40,000 stamp duty on her flat, Richard Tice said it was "morally completely indefensible” and she should immediately resign if she had “any moral decency”. Now we learn he personally made £91,000 in excess payments by failing to pay the tax his company legally owed

With just a few weeks until polling day, we’re sending a massive GOOD LUCK to all the brilliant women standing for election (and those behind the scenes). Let’s make sure Labour women take up their space this May 💪

🚗 Miles fairer with Labour! 🚗 Really pleased to see progress on updating the outdated HMRC mileage rates, unchanged for *15 years!*. Working people shouldn’t have to pay to drive for work, it hits social care workers especially hard, taking some well below the living wage. @unison.org.uk

Meanwhile the “psychologically flawed” Gordon Brown, having enacted the most redistributive economic policies in the UK for the past 50 years, and saving the UK from full impact of 2008 - is still engaged in acts of public service….9/

Labour Governments aren’t about self-service, they’re about public service — and this PM embodies public service. Thats why he’s got a 5-year mandate and my full support. Let’s get on with the job.

I can see Raja Miah is rattled by this. Far better than him going after whistleblowers and others who challenge him 👍

Tytan and Notty were rescued a week apart from different parts of Kenya, but for the same unusual reason: both mothers died in cliff falls. The pair became immediate and inseparable friends, and it has been lovely to see them heal and embrace their Nursery life together: swt.bio/tytan

This is really good.

My piece for @northwestbylines.co.uk @bylinesnetwork.co.uk on the #Labour Party NW Conference that happened over the weekend. Positive event for Labour just before the Burnham story landed … (piece on that to follow). northwestbylines.co.uk/politics/lab...

Perhaps Nigel Farage would like to explain to the families of British soldiers killed in Iraq why he’s such a good pal of Donald ‘bonespurs’ Trump?

Trump on NATO: "I've always said, will they be there if we ever needed them? That's really the ultimate test. I'm not sure of that. We've never needed them. They'll say they sent some troops to Afghanistan and this or that. And they did. They stayed a little back, off the front lines."

Like fireworks caught in Medusa's gaze. The remarkably fluid late C15th vaulting at Oxford's Christ Church cathedral. Some say it might have been built earlier.
