I feel like a major component of this breaking through is that #metoo is recent memory. We all witnessed that create next to no accountability, led to career boosts for some and then prompted a ferocious regressive backlash that made the culture even more hostile to women and survivors.

The facts are shocking enough, but the bigger reason that the Cornell gang-rape case has broken through is that everyday Americans are sick of the rich and powerful and their sons getting away with it And everyone knows this fish stinks from the head My new column www.inquirer.com/opinion/corn...

Like, a guy or two went to jail, a handful lost deals or had to lie low for a minute, but overall the right wing narrative of victim blaming and false arming anyone who cared about it as histrionic was amplified far beyond the cultural moment of metoo, becoming a pillar of modern rw politics.

@rikiwilchins.bsky.social I share the anger and disappointment with Talarico. At the same time, I don't think staying hope is an option this election for less than perfect Dems. He's still strongly pro-trans. We HAVE to take majorities in House and Senate to have ANY power for next 2 yrs IMHO.

Newly adopted teen mom. We haven’t figured out her food based name yet. She was found in a ten in the woods with her litter, and she’s both unbelievably tiny and capable of tremendous violence. We love her.

This post is unavailable.

Bringing her home we were worried her much bigger bro would pick on her (he’s also less than a year old and very playful), but I’m actually more worried she’s going to tear him to shreds the second he annoys her.

Did a few days of witnessing trans Twitter (and World Cup banter), and jfc the kids are S T R U G G L I N G. Howling hurricane of toxic discourse between people who have seemingly never encountered the concept of intersectionality before.

I think about this particular passage at least once a week.

‘You see what you are, what you have done, or, more accurately, what you haven't done (for that was all that was required of most of us: that we do nothing). You remember those early meetings of your department in the university when, if one had stood, others would have stood…but no one stood.’

well, shit. Thank you Dolores for giving this needed (and heartbreaking) context.

Dolores Huerta's statement on Cesar Chavez: “I am nearly 96 years old, and for the last 60 years have kept a secret because I believed that exposing the truth would hurt the farmworker movement I have spent my entire life fighting for... I can no longer stay silent and must share my own experiences"
