It’s kinda funny / harrowing that LLMs didn’t get smarter or less brute-force-y, we just got better graphics cards, and more comfortable with wasting obscene energy on what still remains the most overrated madlibs ever. www.wsj.com/tech/ai/how-...

Stephen Miller is running America

Easy to be flippant, but Trump going on the record to tell the media he is not in control of his govt and is being misinformed by advisors. Someone else is running the country.

A summary of outdated Western myths about China vs the modern reality of Chinese manufacturing, by @nickdrom on IG. You can't call it "reshoring" when America has *never* manufactured the core products that are now in demand.

Im not American, but it is scary seeing how fast the trump admin is continuing to accelerate their fascist agenda. Australia must reject this in our elections, and whoever gets elected must have the guts to stand against USA’s mad king

ICE can enter anyone’s home, and abduct and deport them to a foreign prison indefinitely because the DOJ says they can ignore the 4th, 5th and 15th amendments. If there’s no due process or protections against illegal search and seizures, none of us are safe.

Let’s be clear. Trump's arrest of Judge Dugan in Milwaukee has nothing to do with immigration. This latest attack is about one thing: unchecked power. It is time for my colleagues in the Republican Party to stand up to his growing authoritarianism.

It finally happened. Just received my first confirmed evidence of ICE targeting an Afghan wartime ally (a former Afghan Army soldier who was granted legal asylum) for detention and possible deportation. He went live on social media with the agents attempting to enter his home in Oklahoma City.

20 minutes ago here in Venetie, Alaska, the skies erupted in a beautiful auroral substorm. Here is just one of many real-time videos I recorded during the show to give you a sense of how fast and dynamic the aurora can move.

There's a reason why they're freaking out over what's happening to Tesla. It's working. There's a reason they're threatening absurd consequences. They need to scare you back into civility and compliance. As long as we're reluctant to cross the lines they ignore daily, they have the upper hand.

If direct air capture (DAC), a CO₂ removal (CDR) technique, costs $500 per tonne, removing just US emissions would cost ~$3 trillion annually (that's ~4x US military spending). It would also require twice the total power generation capacity of the US today (and it has to be 100% carbon-free).

Angus Taylor was saying this morning that the Coalition's first task will be to "tackle inflation". Given Labor has already overseen inflation return to within the RBA's target band at 2.4%, that would seem pointless. And I still wouldn't trust him to deliver on it.

if you find yourself reluctant to support the guy at Columbia because you find some of the politics he espoused distasteful or even abhorrent, you should know that this is exactly the reaction that they hoped for in choosing him as a target for unlawful detention based on political speech.

Trump claimed the Biden administration spent $8 million "making mice transgender." The White House tried to back up this number with records of funding for research into cancer, asthma, and HIV, some of which used *transgenic* (genetically modified) mice.

One thing I'm fucken sick of hearing is that people on the poverty line "don't want handouts." Well, the rich take hand outs. Maybe they're rich bc they were offered handouts. Maybe they're rich bc they take them. This "shame in receiving free money" for the poor but not the rich makes me SO MAD

So increasing the minimum wage to a livable wage is “socialism”? But Amazon union busting, keeping wages low, and forcing workers onto public assistance while its founder increases his net worth by $7.9M an hour is the "free market"? Perhaps this could be a WaPo opinion piece.
