Very excited to share that my second dissertation article has been published in 𝘍𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘵 𝘗𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘺 𝘘𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘺! 💫🥳🎉 It focuses on epistemic injustice and recognition in the context of endometriosis (endo), a gendered chronic illness affecting millions worldwide. ojs.lib.uwo.ca/index.php/fp...

From February, but still highly relevant. Trump exemplifies Max Weber's concept of patrimonialism, which has two primary weaknesses: incompetence and corruption. These vulnerabilities can and should be leveraged against him. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

Yes. Fur farms are cruel, dangerous and carry actual catastrophic risk. Sweden closed its last mink farms in 2025 (the last fur farms remaining), with the state providing shutdown support. 23 (out of 27) EU member states have banned fur farming.

This is playing with fire. It’s also a plot worth of Dr. Evil, to spark the next deadly pandemic because we can’t shut down or regulate the dwindling number of mink fur farms. Fur farms are cruel, dangerous and carry actual catastrophic risk.

Brazil will get more attention either way it goes, but this is truly an incredible victory for the student protesters. We ran this in March 2025, which explained the movement's strengths but seemed overly optimist in the months that followed. 18 months later, they succeeded. Gen Z strikes again.

Anna Maria van Schurman was the first female university student in Europe. She was known for her expertise in philosophy, medicine, theology, and at least 14 languages. She was an author, poet, painter, and academic. In her dissertation, she made a logical case for women’s right to study.

Social democracy became obsolete when it stopped being reformist. Reformism used to mean radical social transformation through mass organizing and policy feedback. Now 'reforms' mean caving to capital's demands. Read Adam Przeworski on how social democracy lost its political language:

Throughout Europe, young people are demanding radical change. For a long time, the compromise offered by European social democracy read something like this: we provide incremental change to improve people's lives. Incrementalism equals realism and radicalism equals idealism. While we may believe ...

Side note: It’s still fascinating to see Swedish media call it "the corona" (coronan). I haven’t seen this in English. The definite article is sometimes used for "the pandemic," but not for the virus or the disease itself.

Why do people with ME claim to know more about the medical aspects of their disease than their doctors? Because the mechanisms that usually ensure doctors' knowledge fail in the case of ME, and sick people have created mechanisms of knowledge production and dissemination to pick up the slack.

The old East–West divide is fading. Berlin’s electoral map is now clearly structured by a center–periphery divide: inside the S-Bahn Ring—the circular urban rail line surrounding central Berlin—the left camp dominates. Support for the right bloc rises with distance from the center. (1/2)
