My nightmare. That's why I've been saying for months that Dems need to pick up 5 seats. Anything less doesn't count.

Mike Nellis@mikenellis.bsky.social

You’re worried Democrats won’t win a Senate majority. I’m worried we’ll win 51 seats and John Fetterman will be the most important politician in the world. We are not the same.

The Brooklyn Can't Wait coalition’s goal is not just to unseat the current party chair, it is to build a party that listens to voters and fights Republicans. Changing the rules to override the voters, handpick a successor, and keep the same clique of insiders in control would takes us backwards.

I really appreciate political ads targeted at me personally.

Mike Rogers is a corporate sellout who moves back to Michigan every few years to run for office to take another swing at the revolving door of corporate politics.

Thanks to candidate for congressional district PA-07 Bob Brooks for meeting with canvassers knocking doors in today's nor'easter. A former union president and firefighter running in Bethlehem PA., Bob supports Medicare for all and has a record of delivering proper healthcare for first responders.

Sen. Susan Collins helped steer millions in federal defense contracts to Navatek, whose CEO illegally funneled thousands of dollars to her campaign. The FBI sought to launch a probe and was eyeing Collins and other lawmakers. Then Trump gutted the unit in charge. THREAD 🧵

Happy 72nd Birthday to Ruby Bridges, who at the age of 6 desegregated the New Orleans public schools. She’s younger than 30 senators and our last two presidents—and only 7 years older than Barack Obama. The past isn’t past.

Can confirm. Though in my case, it's just made me even more aggressively pro-vax/doctors.

When my wife’s Meta algorithms sniffed out that she’s pregnant a bunch of medical crankery started aggressively filing into her Facebook and Instagram feeds. “MAHA moms” happen because there is a lot of money being spent strategically preying on women going through a stressful experience.

Feeding families used to be a nonpartisan issue. Bob Dole was a champion of the food stamp program. The current Republican party has one guiding principle: cruelty.

The goal of the Trump regime is to kill as many poor people as possible

Look, if you want to convince me that AI isn't completely evil, then stop putting all the worst people in the world in charge of it!

The “head of strategic futures” at OpenAI just went on an unhinged rant against social security sometimes I feel like these tech companies are actively trying to alienate as many normal people as possible

Do not normalize children dying from measles. Measles was previously eliminated in the US, thanks to vaccines. When children die from measles, it means that adults have catastrophically failed to protect them because they have rejected basic science.

We’re not in the habit of recognizing celebrity deaths here at 925. That said, Dolly Parton is a national treasure and some folks here joke that Dolly is our Locals patron saint. After all her song “9 to 5” is our anthem. Today we remember all the love and kindness Dolly brought the world.

I'm like that annoying person in college who loved to tell you about how they went to see all the band's shows before they got big. But for politics.

Man, I am telling you, if he wins reelection in November, he is a front runner for 2028.

This is an amazing thread.

I once worked at a university that gutted an entire (very popular and useful) learning center and replaced it with two guys who would teach you how to host blogs. every student had to have a blog. Every single one. Our syllabus had to mention blogs. We had to teach WITH blogs.

A disgusting effort to subvert the will of the voters just to hold on to her leadership position. All Democratic elected officials in Brooklyn should speak out against this blatant power grab by Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn.

New Kings Democrats@newkingsdems.bsky.social

Tonight the party chair announced her intention to pursue an anti-democratic power grab—changing the rules and packing the executive committee so she can overrule Brooklyn voters and hold on to her position. All Democrats should reject this as antithetical to the values of our party.

The USS Abraham Lincoln has been at sea for 200+ straight days, and reports say conditions onboard are so bad that multiple sailors have tried to jump off. Our servicemembers deserve better than this. There needs to be an investigation.

This is the kind of person to whom the federal government is giving guns and carte blanche to hunt people down. What could go wrong?

Wow. The ICE shooter in Maine asked his ex-wife to "to lie for him and to cover for his character." She said he was abusive and had previously reported concerns about him to his military superiors. He was also a volunteer firefighter, but was removed after several spats with department leadership.

This is horrific.

The anti-vax group formerly led by Robert Kennedy Jr. has been promoting the story of a woman who says vaccines killed her 18-month-old twins. She’s the lead plaintiff in the group’s lawsuit against the American Academy of Pediatrics. Well, now she’s been charged with suffocating the toddlers.

This primary is clearly a two-person race at this point, and I would 100% choose this guy over Haley Stevens to go up against Mike Rogers. Like, is not even a question.

3 Supreme Court Justices are totally fine with overturning the plain language of the Constitution on birthright citizenship because Fox News and the MAGA movement has fried their brains. Any serious Democratic presidential contender in 2028 needs to support expanding the court, at a minimum.

A lot of "very serious people" online today are going to explain to you how landlords can only survive by raising rents on people who can barely afford it as it is. There is a lot wrong in our current housing system, but it will not be solved on the backs of low-income tenants.
