shit. twitter is down so here i am on the app populated by people who like their humour wry but don’t touch hard spirits.

It’s gone from ‘Starmer is failing to deliver’ to ‘just a policy disagreement’ in the space of three tweets.

Stephen Bush@stephenkb.bsky.social

In the real world, it really just is a disagreement about policy and priorities. Step away from the conspiracy theories!

Stephen thinks that Keir Starmer is not aware of this

Russia really has invaded a European country. We really are subject to cyber attack and information warfare every day.

so, you’re saying that TfL staff should not intervene and that BTP officers should be redeployed?

'Criminals commit crime' remains a statement of the obvious and something that is fashionable to ignore. Catching fare dodgers is an effective way to catch more serious criminals

There is only one way I can see NATO remaining relevant and that is to rename it ZATO, Zack's Amazing Treaty Organisation. That would ensure everyone knows the most important aspect of global peace: it's all about meeeeee!

underage criminals famously deterred by verbal commands not at all escalatory

Sorry but shouting at the fare dodgers is not an unreasonable ask of the staff. I don't think anyone here expects them to rugby tackle them.

TfL staff didn’t put their lives on the line TWO TIER KIER etc

Tube journey home from a show last night with my wife and kids. At Piccadilly 8 teenagers just barged through the barriers without paying, swaggering in full view of TfL staff who did nothing about it. Muggins here then has to dutifully beep through and pay. Now a daily occurrence.

The people of Iran aren’t free. Iran can now charge tolls. The nuclear material sits EXACTLY where it did, in the same amount, since June. The regime is still in place with a younger ayatollah. Iran still was launching missiles, now with more money to rebuild. Period

I just don’t think we have the same sort of culture (political or otherwise) in the UK for a Trump figure. All of our outsider populists are still umbilically hamstrung by the parliamentary system.

OpenAI Anthropic and xAI also all want to raise like $60bn each in the next year, which is way more appetite than people regularly have for IPOs. For some context the total proceeds of all US IPOs for 2025 was $47.4bn. 2021 had $155.8bn back during ZIRP season. Good luck with that folks!

This is very very big. Like a big deal and massive cuts. These can’t even be seen as budgetary since you don’t get much savings in the context of trillions budget. They want the US out of R&D out of science research.

I was told point blank multiple times in the last year that I was "missing something" about OpenAI and was "dead wrong" but not one of these people could say why. Not a single person has an argument as to how OpenAI will become a real business. They're all pie in the sky
