Joined with the mass influx, but for slightly different reasons. I left Xhitter many months ago when the anti-Semitism went public; joined after 11/5 in need of better communication lines. Economic justice, science fiction, community, books.

If someone will tell me what god or spirit I have offended, I promise to complete whatever ritual they demand to clear the infraction.

Trans rights is inherently a bodily autonomy issue. Just like abortion rights is. We can't have gender equity or reproductive freedom without trans rights. Full stop. You can yell at me and make up shit that you claim I've said if it makes you feel better. I don't care. I'm right. And you know it.

David Cobb was One of the Good Ones, both personally and politically. As a Green Party presidential candidate in the early 2000s, he helped start the election integrity movement. I hope to attend this celebration virtually.

Incredible. When E—n M—k & his crew obliterated USAID in a weekend, they deleted a vast trove of publicly-funded knowledge: the Development Experience Clearinghouse. A Canadian high school student (!) happened to have downloaded the entire thing for a project. AidData has now posted it for all.

aiddata.orgBefore reimagining development data, remember what we’ve learnedWhy we’re publishing a free, searchable, and ungated archive featuring a quarter-century of USAID evaluation reports.

Dear US friends: if you are tired of seeing screenshots of posts that are mostly inflammatory lies but you know they might impact you and your community, might I refer you instead to @unbreaking.org? Timelines of what’s *actually* happening in US federal policy in key areas, sourced and updated.

@wordweaverlynn.bsky.social brought Alan much joy, and is a dear friend to me. Losing Alan unexpectedly is big and destabilizing, but we forge on.

I am so grateful for 22 years with my partner @pokershaman59.bsky.social and for deep friendship with his wife @kith51. He died suddenly Monday morning on a plane to Ireland. We are shattered. #40DaysofGoodShit #lent #gratitude

DOJ's recent 6th Circuit filing misspelled: Voters as “Votors” Emergency as "Emeregency" United States as "United Staes" And, it included a non-party in the caption. These are the people who want access to your sensitive voting records and who my team fights in court every day.

Yes it’s Valentine’s Day. But it’s also the chosen birthday of Frederick Douglass who was born in 1818 on a plantation in Talbot County, Maryland. He escaped from slavery & rose to become the most eloquent and forceful voice for the abolition of slavery & for Black voting rights in the U.S.

Working on this project is helping me stay somewhat sane.

Our Immigration page tracks lawsuits and institutional pushback, but the community resistance we see all over the US is hard to pin to a timeline. This week’s briefing is about those things—extraordinary acts of bravery and decency by ordinary people, everywhere: unbreaking.org/blog/this-we...

Ending this operation is not enough. We need justice and accountability. That starts with independent investigations into the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, economic restitution for businesses impacted, abolishing ICE, and the impeachment of Kristi Noem.

We need to talk about the rise of "smol bean fascism" where you have all the guns and the immunity but the really scary people are the ones with whistles and phone cameras and they're giving you generational trauma and ptsd by filming you killing people for no reason

Greg is a long-time acquaintance and, in the moment, on the list my list of Twin Cities heroes. Bookseller courage FTW.

I am. But there are three things at play here regarding ICE collecting private data. Quick rundown on the issue, why you should be paying attention, and what I'm doing about it:

So which politician is calling for the dismantling of the probably illegal database that ice & this government is collecting biometric data of protesters?

This thread is both superb and encouraging.

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

Okay, that was today and I missed it. Next year, I want an invite in advance!

TOMORROW IS THE WINTER SOLSTICE AND Y'ALL KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS. It is time for the women (defined broadly) to hunt the Year King through the woods and tear him apart with their bare hands!

So I was getting off the BART train, wearing my Le Guin t-shirt about how capitalism’s power is no more permanent than the divine right of kings. And the Black man sitting across from me also got off. As he walked away, I could see that his beautiful purple sweatshirt …

… had an A. Philip Randolph quotation on the back. So I called out “Great sweatshirt.” He heard me and turned around and smiled. I said “I’m an A. Philip Randolph fan.” As he was walking away he said, “I’m an Ursula Le Guin fan.”
