Welcome new followers! Look forward to learning about my life in remote northern New Mexico and the quirky high-desert, artsy, and culturally diverse region around Taos. There will be mentions of cats, native plants, romancelandia, healthcare and education policy inequities, and climate change.

Gas in Taos, New Mexico jumped from 4.39 to 4.69 during the two hours I was in my book club, with all stations but one at 4.69. The one outlier was selling gas at 4.59.

30 years of delivering jaw-dropping moments later and we're finally experiencing a ROADSHOW reaction of our own! After 24 nominations, we are truly humbled and thrilled to receive our first Primetime Emmy® Award for Outstanding Structured Reality Program!

Check out my new-fangled purring keyboard stand. My co-worker today decided he wanted all of my attention and desk space. While I hunt and peck gently with one hand, the other provides chin scratches when I use the mouse.

Happy “Your Student Loan Repayment Amounts Tripled Day” for all those who celebrate. Today my student loan repayments went from $160/ month under the Biden admin’s SAVE plan to $475/ month under Trump’s RAP program. My middle income household now has $0 available for surprise expenses.

I personally do not have children, but my dental hygienist, mental health care provider, and a leader of a local non-profit all do. In all cases, they told me NM’s universal childcare means they could continue working full-time in my small town. www.santafenewmexican.com/news/legisla...

Feeling this so, so much in Northern New Mexico right now. Yes, we got a few tenths of an inch of rain this week, but the monsoon season is a long, long way off...

6th generation Minnesota farm kid hot take: I don't know what fancy Midwestern funerals they're talking about here as I've never seen my people put olives on anything (Pimentos? Yes. Olives? No). Cheese whiz on cinnamon swirl bread was the usual snack at the 4-H meetings of my youth.

At this point, I'm genuinely hoping for our country's collective dignity that there aren't any nudes leaked as a part of the stolen Kash cache.

Just saw #ProjectHailMary and found it to have a lot of heart, which the audience enjoyed. My favorite character from the book, Rocky, was sweet and a crowd favorite. What the movie misses is the seriousness of the stakes (the sun is dying!). Gosling did a great job carrying the film.

It's illegal for the president to relieve student loan debt. It's completely fine for the president to unilaterally decide to have the head of a foreign nation black bagged on foreign soil.

Further erosion of USPS, one of the last equalizing forces keeping those of us living in remote or rural areas connected to the larger economy.
