It's such a ridiculous state we're in for gaming in 2026. Literally 2 games I regularly play use almost 50% of my disk space. The other 30% is my stuff and now I am left rationing 20% trying to figure out what games I can install without going into storage debt

500 Go used to be heaps of storage and could get you decent amount of games. Games also used to run relatively okay on HDD and I used to play a LOT of things with a cheap 1To HDD. Where did it all go wrong now

Yes I have 500Go storage, no I am not buying more storage, have you seen the fucking prices. It doesn't help that the only good "affordable" laptop I could get here has one storage slot. Literally backed into a corner at every turn to play more than 5 games

AI companies out here bleeding money and making everyone else pay for it. Fucking robbers will crash the economy, drag every industry down the drain and get away with it.

This means that the increased price of RAM and consumer electronics was a result of an artificial "supply chain crisis" created by Jensen Huang pushing NVIDIA's customers to take early delivery of GPUs. Jensen Huang is responsible for making life worse for everyone.

Ed Zitron@edzitron.com

NVIDIA seems to be channel stuffing, forcing Amazon and other customers to take early delivery. The argument that these things are "scarce" when you don't even have anywhere to plug them into is nonsense...unless NVIDIA is saying you NEED to take them now, or else. GPUs are stacked in warehouses.

The epic launcher is already garbage. Polishing a turd to unheard levels.

These CEO fucks will tell you cruelty to lines of code is not ok but completely be fine with real people being bombed out of existence .

Was checking a github repo from one of my old university projects and you can tell exactly when's the deadline by the frequency of commits per day and the degradation of grammar in the commit messages.

Remembering the good times when I descended to hell to use SOAP. Good on you devs that use SOAP, my mental health couldn't

Kz@kzdotwave.bsky.social

Nothing could have prepared me for how much dependency hell I had deal with to get two Spring Boot APIs communicating through SOAP. I know no one will read this I just need somewhere to vent this is stupid

YouTube's mobile UI is either an embarrassing feat of design or a stroke of genuis in manipulation. I keep finding out I accidentally subscribed to YT channels without noticing because it's so easy to slip and click the subscribe button while you're scrolling posts or watching a video.

Sony has been at it with patents lately. Soon enough they'll hand you a credit card reader with a joystick and call it "Pay as you play" controller. I know it's just a patent but it's shit PR when you're actively playing competitive "shoot yourself in the foot" with Xbox.

Bashing my head over the struggle to update windows. Think about updating window-> Check if it'll break anything this time -> Fall down a rabbit hole of KB numbers and lists of known issues -> "I should backup just in case"-> "Oh god I have so much to backup" -> "It can wait" Rinse and repeat

Seriously, every time I try research the most reliable long term storage and backup solutions I end up on r/DataHoarder. Their solutions hardly work for the small scale of my data (Relatively speaking...500 ish GBs is rookie numbers down there)

Storage aint cheap either so I have a headache just thinking about doing a new backup with half reliable storage solutions because I can't be damned to buy redundant storage in 2026...nor can I afford it

Each of these appeared in a separate day like a fucking slow infestation. Multi-billion dollar company by the way, begging you to use their AI because AI is definitely not a bubble.

And people wonder why smart TVs are relatively cheap. Anti-consumer practices to extract every penny out of the casual person have become the norm in this depressing fuck of a world we live in.

Alex Hern@hern.bsky.social

It's finally happened: the improved quality of machine transcription and the greater ability to extract value from unlabelled data means "your tech is eavesdropping on you for marketing purposes" has crossed from "false conspiracy theory" to "true and concerning" www.theverge.com/tech/991190/...

Is there a term for how every product you buy in the modern day is trying to rip you off in some capacity no matter how cheap or expensive / the brand name is ? I swear I don't remember things being this...hostile to consumers. Examples : (1/2)

Smart TVs ? Guess what they've gotten cheaper thesz years yes, but wanna know why ? Because their profit is now the data they collect using the baked in spyware that's very hard to disable or even be sure actually got disabled. I can keep going it's so sad

Like how come no matter how much money you spend on a car you're still getting spyware baked in , cheap plastic in every corner they can put and put as little physical buttond as possible to save costs while still charging an arm and a leg. This example applies to a lot of other things

Laptops, cars , Smart TVs ,... Everything seems like is being manufactured as CHEAP as possible to save costs while still charging you the same price you'de expect from a decent durable device and it's getting to a point where we're just used to it which isn't normall.

Ah yes, my growing 85 page End Of Studies Project Report is becoming a real headache. How the fuck do I keep finding new mistakes in finished pages

At least I am using Latex this time. (Yes I used microsoft word last year , not proud of that nightmare) . Although latex has its own quirks...and is single threaded too so that's fun

Remove dislike count, remove the entire fucking dislike button on shorts, countless shit UI decisions, Predatory practices to force you to keep watching shorts like going into PiP when you close the app, shorts auto play when you open the app

,AI upscaling shorts without creator approval, failing to do something about bots using inappropriate pfps...BOTS in general ...I can keep going it's insane. This plateform is obly surviving now because of the momentum it had from years of huge success in the entertainment industry.

I don't know how to feel about the fact the only movie I haven't watched in that list is Captain Amaerica : first avanger...like I just never bothered ? Crazy that a movie needs a 15 movie watchlist though. As sad as I am to see an iconic era end...Marvel needs a fresh start

My first experience with a metroidvania has been...mixed so far. Don't get me wrong I am having fun so at the end of the day it's net positive for me. However my biggest issue so far has been the navigation. I struggle to tell if I am going where I am supposed to and often end up at (1/2)

(2/2) a roadblock or somewhere I need a certzin upgrade from a different place to go through. The completionist in meis partially to blame too. i am always tempted to try to finish everything in one area when that can only be done after you made it across the map to get some rusted key or whatever

This could also be an issues specific to the game I am playing not the genre in general but I can't tell . Game's Haiku, the robot (Please no spoilers).

Okay so there IS a transportation system in the game...you just don't have access to it until you reach a certain point...that point is so far that I gave up on the possibility. However you still have to WALK back to the previous station before you can use the train for it...istg whyyy

Kz@kzdotwave.bsky.social

Although, I still have some gripes with Haiku the robot that might overlap with criticism of the whole metroidvania genre. As I was writing them I realized that's too much text no one has time to read (Unless someone wants my opinion for some reason lol)

Started playing Haiku, the robot as an attempt to get into the platformer / metroidvania genre and so far it's been going nicely.

My last attempt was Hollow Knight and I barely could play for more than 30min not because it's a bad game but because I just never played that style of games. I genuinely think it's interesting game but I just kind of accepted that it isn't for me (1/2)
