There are only a handful of books I’ve encountered in my life that I would call truly life-changing. I have just finished one of those rare tomes: “The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma” by Bessel van der Kolk, M.D.  1 of 12/

Not that long ago, three major lower-court rulings against the executive branch on three unrelated topics would’ve been a busy *month,* and outlets would’ve rushed to write up such a run of adverse rulings. Now, it doesn’t feel unusual when we get three on the same *day.* It’s all … exhausting.

Some great news here: big majorities want to prioritize changing the system over just stopping Trump, including a quarter of Rs! But rather than target those entirely gettable and plentiful Rs, some Dems are still saying they want to work with him. It's madness.

This poll from Cook is bonkers. A *huge* plurality of voters (43% overall, 61% of Ds) want Dems to focus on changing the political system overall vs. just opposing (21%, 36% of Ds) or working with Trump (35%, 3% of Ds).

Trump is $2 billion richer than he was when he was elected in 2024. His family is making hundreds of millions off his presidency. Meanwhile, the American people are struggling to get by. You do the math. It’s blatant corruption.

We do need a photojournalism exhibit. And a composite of all humans who go through and the end result. Especially those going to countries so far from their origins. We need a record of how dehumanizing in picture, in story, in song. Keep demeaning it. Thank you Lee

The amount of Amazon workers relying on SNAP and Medicaid has nearly tripled since 2020 — while Amazon’s annual profits soared by over 550%. It’s the same story everywhere: corporate profits are at record highs, while workers’ share of the economy is at a record low. We must unrig the system.

In a private discussion today this came up: “We need the January 6th Commission hearings, for DOGE.” One could do a lot with NIH and NSF alone. There are clinical trials that ended, patients that died, young people leaving the US… and bad stuff that happened inside the agencies.

A clean audit of a narrow set of voting machines, or even voting locations, also doesn’t mean tampering couldn’t have happened elsewhere in the process, whether at machines or precincts outside the sample, or at other stages in how results get aggregated and transmitted.

The next time someone tells you that 'U.S. election results are accurate because there are audits', you can remind them that election audits were NEVER DESIGNED to detect manipulation or ensure the accuracy of an election. That is not and has never been the intended function of an election audit.

This is a good post, and a thing well worth pointing out. "There is no bottom" isn’t a slogan, it’s an empirical observation. There is—*literally*—nothing that’s out of bounds now for Republicans. If you can think of it, *yes*, they’re capable of it and it may actually happen now in your lifetime.
