I'm going to write about this I think but a best case scenario in the "worrying about Dems taking an anti-trans turn" would see like Hamilton in Kansas elected and Turek eating shit. That would give us solid grounds to further the argument we've been making within the party on trans rights.

The political media is visibly chafing at the current situation, where Republicans are glaringly awful, fucking everything up, running deviant candidates everyone hates, and Dems are just being normal & winning. The force is out of balance. They are viscerally eager to go after Dems about something.

Sure, he can say this sort of thing as a candidate in a safe, blue, hippy state like Kansas...
Kansas Dem Sen. nominee Adam Hamilton on trans rights: “I don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself”

imagine if a democratic candidate anywhere said something like this about a jewish candidate, would be a ten-alarm fire in every media outlet for days. but the literal president promoting this sort of insane bigotry against a muslim won't even merit a story
Trump: “Abdul El-Sayed is a jihadist. He should not be allowed to serve in our Senate.”
This is precisely what bothered me about “ruthless.” It’s exactly like JD characterizing it as an ad that maybe “goes too hard.” NYT headline basically bought the right wing framing of it wholesale.
Typically, "ruthless" describes an effective, if distasteful, action by someone powerful and in control. is that an accurate way to characterize the Vivek campaign in October 2026?

If you donated to Josh Turek without realizing he was running on a federally funded trans healthcare coverage ban, you can request a refund of your donation here: help.actblue.com/hc/en-us/art...

Maybe the line should be sure, go ahead and issue those pardons - so long as the pardon is very, very specific of what exactly is being pardoned. Let’s see what ya got.
the reason you issue preemptive mass pardons is to reassure junior staff who are shitting themselves that they’re safe and they don’t have to flip on you. going to be very important to push back on their validity, which is nil, preemptively also
Goes perfectly with this approach bsky.app/profile/gran...
imprison all of the pardoned people illegally and pardon the people who jail them, you gotta hit them with the reverse calvinball

I can confirm. Indivisible Action spends about a dime of every dollar raised on fundraising costs, which is very efficient. They are a good example of what a genuine grassroots operation looks like.
We’ve seen a lot of recent reporting on shady fundraising tactics that get Democratic consultants rich, but don’t do much to help Democratic campaigns. So let us be as clear as humanly possible: Every dollar you donate today will be spent on winning the midterms and protecting the results.
It's mildly terrifying and I hope this doesn't give you too clear of a view into the abyss the thin veneer of democracy is built on, but this really is how it works for the overwhelming majority of people, really nearly everyone.
found out that my mother in law decided she was aggressively pro trans rights literally by going, I don't know anything about this but everyone who is against trans rights is also against free school lunch, the issue I know and care a lot about, so this must be the correct way to feel about this

🧵 Matt Yglesias is one of the biggest reasons the Democratic Party leadership is so feckless, cowardly, and lazy. I'm not exaggerating. Yglesias is often a featured speaker at private Democratic Party events, despite almost always being wrong. Let's discuss...
A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"
His online ads have a pretty different set of focii and tone, and this is the kind of thing he's saying in interviews. I'm not suggesting any of this will be decisive, just noticing that his campaign is taking fairly different approaches online vs on TV. But we have been running some ads too.
James Talarico, closing on big public investments: "We are focused on the wrong 1% because the only minority destroying America is the billionaire class, and it's time that we tax them and make them pay their fair share so we can invest in education and healthcare and lower our costs."
Oh god. Possible I'm getting a little too online, cuz when I read the lede here I was like, oh, it's that nonsense that DataRepublican was posting on xitter. And yes it sure is. The right wing hogwash pipeline is as functional as ever.
This was a weird one -- Laura Ingraham, citing no direct evidence, claimed the existence of a wide-ranging conspiracy of journalists, activists, and Democratic governors to“dissolve” the U.S. Constitution and “crush their enemies.” I tried to track it down. www.mediamatters.org/laura-ingrah...
This is both a wild result and excellent, efficient survey design.
New: Low-info voters, who put Trump in the White House, now look even more anti-Trump than high-info voters, and give Dems bigger margins on the generic ballot. 1 out of 3 Trump voters who can't name the party in charge of Congress now back Dems for 2026. www.gelliottmorris.com/p/poll-low-i...

republicans’ closing message could not be clearer: they are the party of pedophile rapists
Trump: "Ramaswamy put up a very powerful Ad about a mother saying that her daughter, Acton, is a liar, and much worse. The Press is trying to get him to 'take down the Ad.' Frankly, anybody whose mother spoke about daughter that way would normally lead to the daughter being precluded from serving"
