All for art and art for all. Music, films, resistance, culture, books, travel and happy to be part of the industry of human happiness. Y’know, the good stuff in life that doesn’t attract bad people.
Just received a copy of The Reformer (shit pretend Reform newspaper) unsolicited through my letterbox. Is there any way I can legally send it back to them so they incur the costs?
Danny Tommo's 'patriot platform' vigilantes were refused service in The George Inn, Portsmouth. They demanded to know why, despite the fact they do not have to be given a reason.
Always make bigots feel unwelcome.
Show the pub some love for doing the right thing.
Things you love to see ✊❤️
My dad would be considerably more pained and bewildered that there are people and newspapers in this country speaking both covertly and openly just like the Nazis who spent most of the war trying to kill him and his mates.
Police in Bristol said they asked organisers of a far-right protest in city centre to move it or reschedule, because the big Shine Night Walk big cancer charity 10K fundraising walk of 2,000 people - mainly women - was planned for Friday night.
Police confirmed the group refused, so walk postponed.
In what might be an occasional series - more labels on record labels. Glad this one made its long 60 year journey from the Bronx to the UK. No music store there now - just a boarded up pharmacy.
A quartet from the batch of 45s I picked up in Thailand. Particularly pleased with the slightly dodgy Thai Supremes release that is most definitely not endorsed by Motown. The Toho 45 is the theme to some Japanese tv show - I have relatively high hopes for it…
I live in an area with no Uber - currently have a bit of an emergency going on and need a taxi. Every single firm I’ve called doesn’t seem to want to do the job because it’s a bit too difficult to drive five miles. Sincerely hope they all go out of business.
Outstanding show of solidarity from Turkish side Konyaspor in their friendly against the Palestinian national team.
They showered the pitch in teddies to be donated to children and suspended the match at 89:59 with a message stating 'Until Palestine is free, the match has been postponed'.
Invigorating to hear this belted out full blast by a group of Italian, British, French, Dutch, German, Swedish, Belgian and Spanish comrades tonight. We might have our differences but we all agreed on who we despise. youtu.be/s6jw3u9cbEQ?...
Went for a walk to where the Small Faces used to live all together in Pimlico last night - disappointingly no huge blue plaque. But Battersea Power Station looked impressive on the way back.
All this Danny Thommo stuff makes me think of a family tradition we do every Boxing Day, and no its not all going stabbing lifeboats and intimidating lifeguards! Sorry longish thread as its a great story of actual heroes that should make us all feel patriotic.
Just dropped by Tate Britain for an hour or so - they’ve got a Scopitone showing Agnes Varda films of 50’s Cuba! Thats 3 unexpected delights in one. So much better than the Whistler exhibition.
Glorious blue skies, suede jacket getting an outing, mist hanging in in the fields, so it must be autumn. Appropriately enough on the train to London listening to Railcard playing this - feeling very happy with the world just for a few moments. youtu.be/lnDH3L5CoHo?...
The RNLI has said the abuse of volunteers in Portsmouth has forced it to close the lifeboat station there and stop operating since September 10. Nearby stations have been providing cover to the area instead. One of the UK's largest coastal cities without a lifeboat because of the far-right.
Working at home, lovely mild autumn day, windows open for a cool breeze. Now some wanker has fired up a chainsaw and is revving it like a teenager on their first moped. Gah!
Fuck all those bastards in shorts and balaclavas. Fuck them with a thorny stick. They're scum. Utter scum. I'm in no doubt that either singly or collectively they could smash my face in, but I am not frightened of them. They are not England. They are not Britain. Tomorrow doesn't belong to them.
The Times has run a story this morning about how ‘polite’ the masked men in Dover were to three white ladies on a train. Propaganda in its clumsiest form.
There’s a house near me with flags and various Stop The Boats paraphernalia all over it. Was thinking of parking across the driveway so no-one can get out, because I have legitimate concerns. How long do you reckon until the police would get involved? Would it help if I wore a balaclava?
