The survivors, brought to their senses by the disaster, gave chase to the woman: she, laughing in mockery, changed herself into a wren and flew away.

Good morning world! Time to log onto BlueSky and see what normal content people are posting about today: but not before I take a big sip of delicious coffee!

Nonsensical racism.

In all seriousness, we haven’t seen a single serious cryptanalysis result since July 28. Not even one little broken cipher that nobody cares about. What’s more plausible: that all cryptanalysis work in the last 90 days has turned up nothing, or cryptanalysis results are being deliberately withheld?

It is really fascinating how much Trump's second victory has very much not led to a wave of far-right victories across the world (though it's been pretty fucking close in some places).

There are a lot of people who treated 2024 as if it heralded a new era rather than in some ways being the high tide mark.

This is one of the larger left-of-center Facebook pages, and I do feel like a few years ago, left-of-center people on social media with large audiences were not using terms like “goyslop”?

When will the government seize control of these organised gangs of fascist terrorists?

Another daily occurrence that doesn't merit the attention of the Prime Minister or Home Secretary.

The next Bond movie should be set in Ukraine and Putinists should be the villains.

Martin Concagh@mconcagh.bsky.social

All the discourse about James Bond being a hopelessly outdated relic of the Cold War has to contend with the fact that the best James Bond film was released in 1995.

Some pretty obvious ways to do this and retain the espionage elements and series staples.

Had a great time at Bonorong Animal Sanctuary. Check it out when you're in Tassie to visit MONA as I already told you to do.

Tasmania is beautiful, though given the dark history here, the genocide enacted on the Aboriginal population, it's hard for that beauty not to always be touched by that history.

The "numbers" era of the Alt National Park Service (from roughly Feb. - Aug. 2025) was easily the funniest, but also the saddest; I was watching thousands and thousands of people get drawn in by spy-movie nonsense in real time.

Remember when they were just tweeting out random numbers like it was some sort of secret code?

The Museum of Old and New Art was fucking incredible. You should go to Tasmania to see it. It's that good! Great time.

Oh my fucking god.

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

Objectively bad, "picky bits" is awful but you can take my menty b from my cold dead hands.

Chaminda Jayanetti@cjayanetti.bsky.social

"Menty B", which I'm certain YouGov have just made up, sounds like a rapper. So maybe Kanye West.

This is so good.

The Cartoon Network leak revealed that the team actually wrote fake interviews for the Powerpuff Girls in-house so that the writers could understand them better and honestly this is incredibly useful for learning how to characterize your characters holy shit

Recently we have started hosting a fortnightly RPG game at our house. It's a secular occasion but it happens on Fridays so we also celebrate Shabbat in the company of our guests, and we're trying to always have that mean there's a meal before the game. It's early doors yet but it feels real good.

This is all by way of saying I find hosting tiring and visiting almost as much, but I think they are really good and necessary things.

Pay your taxes.

Politico@politico.com

“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?” Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century.

The NHS knows that its new policy is going to harm patients, and it's doing it anyway. It is an active choice being made by this Labour government – don't let them pretend their hands are bound.

Wow this is good politician stuff. Just always nice to see a progressive candidate who has a clear understanding of how to communicate like this. And this is the form of American civil ethos I do very much admire, the Constitution as a concept.

Does sort of feel like eventually they're going to ban all porn that's not missionary with the lights on. I'm very much not into this stuff, but I think at the stage you're banning people pretending they're doing incest you're getting abstract with it.

the repeated framing of this as "supportive" alongside the importance of "maintaining a culture of respect and dignity" whilst referring to me as a man throughout is the thing that deranges me the most. we can't call you the t-slur so we've had to invent a new b-slur. such respect wow.
