Meu deus. Gente que sabe mais sobre política brasileira, devo anotar no calendário mais um golpe para esse janeiro ou está segura dessa vez? Pela minha experiência nos estados unidos, ainda não está, mas a atitude do pessoal parece diferente. Tô errado?

Read through a lot of these and was surprised not to see one answer that's obvious to me: music! Not only is it easier for anyone to make good music, you don't lose music anymore either. Spotify and Youtube making it possible to access almost any song from the last 100 years instantly is a miracle

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

It's "leftists are always right, they're just right too early" but the leftist is Hillary Clinton

Not just the last unapologetically pro immigrant candidate but the last candidate to openly and repeatedly call Trump a racist, Dems abandon that and then are shocked their support among people of color All politics is identity politics!!! You have to actually say “GOP is racist”

Really by the 19th century they were conquering the world for rubber and guano, and you never see them eating that stuff either.

Counterpoint: it's literally called a "party"

Rachel Hallie@dazedrachel.bsky.social

Literally what is with this rise of "actually the local Dem party should fulfill all my social needs" takes I am not doing movie night with Dems. I am not joining a Dem volunteer soccer league. I am not joining Democratic speed dating. Stop using politics as secular church!!!!

The amount of atheists/irreligious I see defending some sort of human soul-adjacent concept always confuses me

Zach Weinersmith@zachweinersmith.bsky.social

Do you have any philosophical intuitions that seem extremely obvious to you, but are highly disagreed about? E.g. moral realism vs antirealism, separation of mind and matter, possibility of free will, objects being able to have moral standing, existence per se as a positive good for humans etc

There's a guy on here i follow and i like a lot of his posts, mostly bc he has good takes and is clearly very smart, but i just realized that probably ~30% of it is just that his prof pic reminds me of my childhood best friend who died a few years ago

Kkkkk o país dos maus perdedores e dos maus ganhadores também

From @theathleticfc.bsky.social: The Argentine Football Association will mark its 2026 World Cup semifinal victory over England with a national day. The AFA said July 15 had been selected to commemorate a “great and historic victory.”

Many people will remember Haley Stevens as the AIPAC candidate, but to me she'll always be the one who described Bernie, AOC, and Hasan Piker as "people who do the socialism", which is a phrase that will forever, as they say, live rent-free in my head

If it's the third post in your thread and the third time you say "I don't care" I umm... no longer believe you

Kate Holzemer@katebits.bsky.social

I don't care and I don't want to know. This is what I learned from you today, Hank Green. Good job.

Call me a bleeding-heart liberal globalist commie or whatever, but it'll forever fucking disgust me how even "decent" american media like the nyt make such a big deal about a dozen dead american soldiers, but literally 100 times more dead iranian *civilians* is just like, an afterthought, if that

the greatest trick capitalism has pulled is convincing a huge swathe of both its defenders and its haters that economics = capitalism instead of capitalism just being one of many possible economic systems

All this shit just makes me realize i must be way more doomer about surveillance than i thought Oh, this technology means i could be recorded by anyone at any time, with no way of knowing? Did you guys not come to terms with this like 10 years ago? All this does is make it slightly easier, yeah?

Fundamentally, everyone just needs self-determination, freedom of movement (relatively), and an international system that can enforce these things with as little blood as possible Don't worry, I know I'm dreaming

I fucking hate crumbl cookies but come on, think for a second. Who would be googling just the word "crumble" and why? What would you think the first result should be?

To everyone i follow: i actually fully reformed and got, like, totally different views before i went and committed that act of terrorism so don't worry, it's like, not your fault at all

This is such a pointless debate now that we're clearly headed for an unambiguous *bad time* economically, but I'm gonna seriously beat my head through a wall if i keep hearing these "global warming isn't real bc it's literally snowing again"-ass arguments

I wouldn't be so present-biased as to call "Disco Sucks" a "MAGA test-run". Any true student of history knows it's all just been KKK sequels the whole time

I already thought the Artemis photos were amazing, but there's something almost alien about these that makes me feel... something

Is it just me or are people confusing wildly different concepts like technology itself (whether an automobile can be trusted to move) with its first-order effects (pedestrians now at risk of being hit by cars) or intervention by business advocates (the invention of jaywalking as a concept)

I say this too often but the thing about our side is that i actually believe the facts are on it If you agree, it should be easy to see why even convenient lies are bad strategy long term

To reject the US as a fundamentally American country with a deep shared history and commonality with the rest of the Americas, including that Spanish has long been our de facto national second language, is on a deep level anti-American. It's hating actual American culture and history and tradition.

Why are so many people still uncritically repeating this "Epstein eats babies" shit? Is the shit that's actually corroborated by multiple sources not scandalous enough for you? Instead we have to jump to the one most extreme claim that's basically never true, even of the most evil people in history?

“outside (trained) agitators” has been the term of art within the right for well over 50 years now

Lot of replies saying MAGA’s nothing but astroturf. There is astroturf—O’Keefe’s part of it—but no, it’s not limited to that. I’ve been reporting on it 10 years. Let’s not respond to MAGA’s delusions w/ our own. The fascist threat is real & big; the truth is everyday people democracy can be bigger.

Hoping now at least the civil war is quick and we can finally get to that balkanized america we've fantasized about for decades Personally i already pledge allegiance to the Great Lakes Union and wish for nothing but peace with our brothers to the north, but if Ontario just wants us that's cool too
