I'm trying like hell to get The Wolf That Chews Rocks onto the shelves at Waterstones. But bookshops need to know there's demand. Could you do me a huge favour? Ask your local Waterstones if they'll stock it. It's a little thing that could make a massive difference to me. Thank you. ❤️

It's that time of the year again when the @nationaltrust.org.uk membership elects new Council members. It's vital that all NT members use their vote (online) to keep the Restore Trust Reform-adjacent entryists off the Council & away from any decision making. Vote online by 30th October - Friday.

The lessons from Brazil and Serbia? Don't concede one inch of ground to the far right. Don't appease. Don't triangulate. Don't grovel. Don't say they have "legitimate concerns". Mobilise your base, and fight them with all the democratic means at your disposal.

Impartiality does NOT mean giving equal weight to science/facts/reality on the one hand and right-wing populist culture war BS on the other. Every section referenced actually DID give pros and cons, and difficult choices. The MoS ignored that and pretended it was one-sided.

Old photo: if Maggie Thatcher had got her way, this would have been - at best - a disused monument to our engineering heritage. Happily, Ribblehead Viaduct (strictly speaking, Batty Moss viaduct) and the Settle and Carlisle line remain important parts of our working transport infrastructure...

A huge thank you to the 28,000 people who stood up for this natural treasure and demanded that it be protected. Other vital and priceless landscapes like Coul Links deserve the same. So tap the link to find out more about how you can take action 💚 brnw.ch/21x6zFO

Great news for nature! The Scottish Government has refused plans for a golf course on Coul Links that would have irreparably damaged this precious place.  Thank you to the tens of thousands of you who spoke up to save Coul Links. Your voices made a difference.

In 2024 five Hen Harrier chicks were found dead in a nest on a grouse moor. Post mortem results, uncovered by FOI requests, suggest that all five of the chicks had injuries consistent with being stabbed. Rad more about this case, including what you can do about it, here: shorturl.at/kndq2

My dad fought in the war and he wasn't a racist. My late mother was a teenager and dedicated her life to helping refugees. My cousin is in her 80s and "fucking hates racists". You don't get a get out of racist jail free card simply for being old and having happened to have lived during a war.

Check it, nerds. Recent find of late stage Maglemosian (8400 BP) antler axe with preserved wooden handle from Egholm, Northern Jutland. Fantastic to see that we still have conditions in Denmark for such fantastic organic preservation. Because it probably won’t be long before we don’t.
