Listifications

Did you know that Bluesky is just one of many wonderful apps in the #ATProto app ecosystem? It is our hope that we can help everyone discover more of these apps. In aid of that we are planning to implement notifications when apps create records that link to your data.

As a concrete example, @scrapboard.org allows users to bookmark posts containing images and create collections of them as boards. We think it would be beneficial to notify the owners of those images when their post was saved in a board.

Would you like to receive notifications when you get blocked or added to a list (starter pack, mod list, etc)? Simply follow us and we'll start sending you DMs to notify you each time this happens. Follow @unsub.blocks.listifications.app to only receive notifications when you're added to a list.

Sometimes lists are created to spam people. We have implemented spam filters to delay sending out notifications that we consider spammy. This means you may not always receive a notification immediately. No spam filter is perfect, so let us know if something doesn't seem right.

A reminder that anyone can easily create accounts which impersonate others. Those accounts can create fake lists which spread lies and misinformation. Remember to be vigilant and not immediately trust anyone claiming to represent us or be partnered with us.

Just to be clear, we do not use any of your data for AI training and we are not partnered with OpenAI. We also have no plans to use your data for any purpose other than to deliver notifications. Our app is even designed specifically to store as little data as possible to avoid costs.

That account added every Listifications follower to that list (at a rate of 17k per minute!). Our systems detected this and prevented the vast majority of you from being notified about it. Those of you notified were notified because you had genuine notifications awaiting delivery.

The past week has seen an increase in the creation of spammy lists. We have taken the decision to delay sending notifications for these, just until we had a chance to implement a less disruptive way to deliver them. This is now done and you should start receiving them.

You should also be aware that these lists are created specifically to make noise and we would recommend you do not engage with them or the creator of those lists. Instead report them to Bluesky via the "Report list" button and/or by messaging @safety.bsky.app / @support.bsky.team.
