This @nytimes.com headline pretty much says it all about Trump's Republican base: "In Islamophobic Rant, Trump Seeks to Stir Republican Base in Michigan" Inadvertent truth-telling by the normally Trump-apologist NYT.

"The discussions served two purposes: to broach the possibility of A.I. consciousness...and to learn how Anthropic...might apply centuries of human moral wisdom to its models..." Centuries of human moral wisdom have always resulted in justice and peace, right? www.nytimes.com/2026/09/29/u...

nytimes.comIs Claude Conscious? Inside Anthropic’s Quest to Instill Morality Into Its A.I. Models (Gift Article)In a series of private meetings, the company consulted religious scholars to help instill morality into its A.I. models — and make the case that Claude could be conscious.

Yesterday I read an article in the @nytimes.com that said the wildfires whose smoke is choking us are burning northwest of Lake MICHIGAN. While that's technically true, it's more accurate to say they are burning northwest of Lake SUPERIOR. Please learn geography. 🙄

But then, the article was whining mostly about how bad the air was in NY. Here in MI, the AQI was off the charts. Literally. The AQI in Detroit yesterday was 650. The EPS's AQI index tops out at 500. In the NW LP, it was 567.

Dear Canada, I'm sorry my Congressman is an idiot spreading nonsense and demanding an apology from you, while ignoring the fact that climate change in greatly contributing to your wildfires, just so he can get big donations from oil companies. From your neighbor, An Embarrassed Michiganian

Sorry to hear about Jeff Bezos's rocket exploding prematurely. A good technique to prevent that from happening is to try thinking about something you find totally unarousing or even repulsive, like giving workers a living wage or paying a fair share of taxes.

The tech bros gave us crypto currency that isn’t currency, artificial intelligence that isn’t intelligence, and prediction markets that are inside-trader scams. On the other hand, they have given us gigantic data centers that employ no one and destroy communities. So there’s that.

Line from this morning's "The Morning" Newsletter from the @nytimes.com: "Paddling upstream: Take a journey through the pristine Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota." They forgot to add, "while it's still pristine."

If you were horrified watching elected leaders run & scramble because of gun violence, just imagine how my daughter Jaime felt in school running from an active shooter before she was killed. Now, become a part of the solution & only vote for people determined to address gun violence in America.

This is hard to watch at first, but has a happy ending!

“We voted for this guy. We all voted, every single one of us,” Daylin said. “But we never expected something like this to happen. It’s just inhumane. It’s inhumane, and it’s wrong. And I think most people who voted for him did not expect this, and a l... #leopardsatemyface #Politics #News

postandcourier.comWhat happens when ICE detains you? Columbia court interpreter found out when her brother was taken. We’ve seen videos of ICE detaining people across the country — but what happens after? We spoke with two families about their experiences.

Sam Sifton writes in the today's NYT "The Morning" newsletter, "It's kind of unbelievable we were once ruled by these people." Seriously? We are STILL ruled by these KINDS of people. At least they arrest theirs. Here, we let them be president and cabinet members. @nytimes.com

This is the law. Passed down from our Founding Fathers, to ensure our military upholds its oath to the Constitution — not a king. Given Stephen Miller is directing much of a military policy, he should buff up on the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
