Not easily. Historically, Iran has projected power via proxies. Now they’ve learned they can also just attack the gulf states and hold the global economy hostage. They’re weaker militarily, but far stronger strategically than they were prior to this war. They know they have the leverage.

It’s hard to believe a president would time an illegal military attack to distract the public’s attention, but today is the statutory deadline for DOJ to release its report on the Epstein file production. Maybe it is just a coincidence.

The “peace” President has started a war.

It's an old and obvious pattern. An unpopular president - failing on the economy and losing his grip on power at home - decides to launch a war for regime change abroad. The American people don’t want to “run” a foreign country while our leaders fail to improve life in this one.

Your regular reminder that we desperately need to overturn Citizens United and get big money out of politics. It is among the worst Supreme Court decisions in history. It corrupts our political system every day.

I have to stress how highly unusual it is for the most powerful military on the planet to be blowing up random boats in international waters. I can’t help but feel that several criminal charges will ultimately come from these strikes. It makes far more sense to interdict them.

If we are taking in “trillion” of dollars in tariffs: 1. Why haven’t we paid down a cent of the debt? 2. Why can’t we afford to not fuck millions of people over with expiring insurance subsidies? 3. Why is none of it being used to help the abysmal job market?
